Intermodal trains can travel at 75 mph, other freight is normally 60 mph. In service mode the headcode of the train will tell you its maximum permitted speed. If the headcode begins with a 4 (eg 4L14) it's permitted speed is 75 mph, if the headcode begins with a 6 (eg 6L65) it's permitted speed is 60 mph.
