    Overview
British Rail Class 555, a next-generation Tyne and Wear Metro train built by Stadler Rail, is the future of UK light-rail/metro stock. Soon to be rolled out in 2025, Class 555 is cutting-edge, streamlined, and hotly anticipated as part of the UK railway landscape, and its inclusion with Train Sim World 6 is both strategic and well-timed.

Why the Class 555 Deserves to Be Represented
    • The Class 555 is new stock, which will supplant the ageing Class 599 fleet in the Tyne and Wear Metro.
    • In 2025 it's entering live service, so TSW6 would be among the first big sims to include it, giving the game a big shot of new and current attractiveness.
    Unusual Operating Environment
    • Tyne and Wear Metro is neither full mainline nor traditional tramway, and offers a special light-rail/urban rapid transit experience underrepresented in TSW.
    • It includes underground sections to run, flyovers, sharp curves, and closely spaced stations, giving extreme stop-start driving and an extremely dissimilar driving challenge from long-haul services.
    • With simulation of the highly frequent acceleration/braking cycle, tight timetables, and characteristic signalling (like Tyneside Metro's own), gameplay variety is offered.
    Geographical and Cultural Representation
    • TSW has overwhelmingly over-represented south England. The North East is barely afforded a glance. The Tyne and Wear Metro is a legend of the North East, and its inclusion helps to counteract the geographic imbalance.
    • Significant local user base in Newcastle and Sunderland areas who have a vested interest in this network and are digitally starved.
    • It's a rare chance to simulate a quintessentially British but not National Rail network, one that few if any other sims have ever had hands on.
Perfect for New and Casual Players
    • Easy-to-use functionality, accessible controls, and simple cab layout make the Class 555 the perfect place to begin for new sim users.
    • A more compact network with sub-an-hour end-to-end runs makes it ideal for casual players who don't want to get into 90+ minute routes.
    Excellent Platform for TSW6 Tech
    • With its modern illumination of the interior, info displays, animated doors, and clear Stadler graphics, it's a perfect candidate for enhanced graphics, dynamic light effects, and audio improvements in TSW6.
    • The Tyne and Wear network has urban urban scenery, tunnels, bridges, and coastline a perfect demonstration for TSW6's environment and engine rendering capabilities.
    New Gameplay Mechanics
    • The Class 555 will bring with it distinctive operating rules (not Network Rail standard), adding to the variety of working practices within the sim.
    • Has depot working, shunting into sidings, coupling/uncoupling, and managing close turnaround times at end-of-line termini.
    Recommended Implementation Details
    • Route: Full Tyne and Wear Metro route (Airport – South Hylton, and St. James – South Shields)
    • Scenarios: Rush hour peak services, night-time excursions, special events (e.g. match-day traffic around St. James' Park)
    • Training Module: Introduce light-rail operating skills and Class 555 systems training
    • Challenge Mode: Precision braking, close schedule keeping, power management on gradients

Spot on. Definitely a geographical imbalance in the game. I hope that your post gets the attention of the right people at DTG
