As TSW is in dire need for some new modern British freight options, the Class 60 would slot in perfectly, and would definitely be a popular new addition to the sim. The class 60s (or Tugs) were built by Brush Traction at the very end of British Rail, due to the unsatisfactory reliability of the Class 56. 100 were built between 1989 and early 1993, with the first examples entering full service in 1990. With the end of British Rail due to Privatization, all of the Class 60s were transferred to English, Welsh and Scottish (EWS), who were apparently not thrilled with the locomotives, which were ironically plagued with reliability issues that they were ordered to resolve. Lots of them were sent into storage, where they remain, but even today many are still used for a variety of freight uses. The current and former Operators are: British Rail (Former) EWS (Former) Colas Rail (Former) DB Cargo UK (Current) GB Rail Freight (Current) DCRail (Current) Any of these would be great to see in TSW, but GB Rail Freight especially would be nice.
Some food for thought, the Just Trains Class 142 was created from a DTG model built for TSC. There was a Class 60 model released by DTG around the same time, built by the same modeller as the 142. If the Class 142 can be adapted for use in TSW, perhaps the Class 60 could to? At least that would be something to start from.
Would love to see a 60, especially for MML! Ooops, again sorry LucaZone my hand just slipped once more, I don't know what's going on tonight!
There's definitely more "character" in this loco than the 66, and it has a unique capability profile. It would be a great choice for a second dedicated heavy-freight loco for the UK.
