Hello all, I'm back after a little break, I'm TrainGeek08 and today I am going to suggest the Class 68 for Rivet Games' upcoming Fife Circle route Loco Information: The Class 68 is a type of mainline mixed traffic diesel-electric locomotive manufactured by Stadler Rail (and previously by Vossloh España) for Direct Rail Services (DRS) in the United Kingdom. The design is derived from the Stadler Eurolight, and Stadler's product name for this variant is the UKLight. On 5 January 2012, DRS announced the placement of an order for fifteen Class 68 locomotives, the first of which arriving in the UK during January 2014. The first batch of Class 68s was quickly followed by a second batch, also intended for DRS and the first to be built by Stadler; the delivery of these units was completed during April 2016. A third batch of Class 68s was also ordered, deliveries of which were completed during July 2017. The Class 68 has since been followed by two related locomotives, the Class 88 and Class 93. Since its introduction in 2014, the Class 68 has been used on numerous passenger and freight operations, including DRS's nuclear flask trains. In addition to DRS's freight operations, the operator has also used the type to haul various charter trains. Several units have been subleased to other operators, including Chiltern Railways, Abellio ScotRail, and TransPennine Express, for passenger services, hauling various rakes of carriages to do so, in some cases being outfitted with Association of American Railroads (AAR) push-pull apparatus. Stock included in base DLC: The British Rail Class 68 'Cat' + Mk2s in ScotRail livery Training (In Training Center): Class 68 Introduction Scenarios: Footie Special: (Difficulty - 2) Hearts are playing against Dunfermline today, drive this extra service put on for the football from Edinburgh Waverley to Dunfermline City Caterpillar Rescue: (Difficulty - 3) The other loco-hauled set has failed, drive the spare 68 from Haymarket to Dalmeny Loop, and drag the failed set back to Haymarket ready to head back to Motherwell TMD later tonight, and the Scottish weather does not help either, there's snow everywhere! The Fife Hauler: (Difficulty - 1) Drive this Class 68 from Glenrothes with Thornton to Edinburgh Waverley, then run around the set and drive it back to Glenrothes heading the opposite way around the Circle Timetable: Incorporated into base timetable Soundset: (if DTG can obtain them ) I really hope you have enjoyed this one, put your thoughts below as per usual, I've been TG08, enjoy the rest of your day and goodbye
Ummmmmmm... yes please! This is a fantastic suggestion and should definitely be taken into consideration.
Fully support this, providing done properly with correct physics and sounds. Class 68 could be reused then for something like the Chiltern Lines loco hauled service if that route ever came to TSW at a later date.
Totally agree, I think the community would like a 68 for Fife Circle judging it wasn't included as standard
I agree Vern, you could re-use it in DRS or TPE liveries as well as Chiltern If this was to come to Fife Circle, it would ideally need to be done to a good standard though
To add, i think this should come with the Direct Rail Services liveried Class 68 and Mk2's, because these would be able to layer onto many other routes, and help make proper use of a much desired new-modern-freight-loco. https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkxo3ULYX8QE5IUwO3T8EpO7OOwZLFagJa3?si=sEc0tF9Y1pAKmT6U
Well, DRS liveried 68s did operate alongside the ScotRail examples so it could be possible . We definitely need something other than a Class 66 for modern UK freight .
Yes although the route is set after the 68s withdrawn from Scotrail's fleet and only 2 68s were loaned to ScotRail. If we were to see the 68 make their debut to the game, I would prefer to see them in a Class 68 pack with all the livery variants like in an Armstrong Powerhouse TSC Loco Pack then we can have Scotrail 68s on Fifecircle & DRS 68s on other routes. Yes, this would mean that the Chiltern & TPE variants would be lacking in routes but hey at least they can be ready for when we get the Chiltern Mainline & York / Scarborough in TSW
That is an interesting idea, it really depends if the Chiltern Mainline or a route based around York or Scarborough is being developed though . Another idea is to include the DRS version as a freight locomotive DLC and then people can choose to reskin it into whichever livery they like.
I would do anything for a new modern uk freight locomotive.. DTG's excuse for recycling the 66 is stupid
It isn't the best idea (to reuse the 66) if I'm honest but DTG haven't developed anything (that we know of) to use on UK freight alongside the 66 .
Top speed is 100mph so it is a fast loco, obviously it wouldn't get to that speed on Fife Circle (without speeding) though .
Fife has several sections for 100 mph, but the diesel MU we got (170?) is way too slow to achieve that when accelerating from last stop before that and before slower sections so I take it this one accelerates faster?
