Something a bit different... Those who see me wildly speculating about new releases and such around here may not know that I also dabble in music, and my band Vieon have a single Inter-City out today as the first of a series of British Rail-themed releases that will eventually be an album. (PS. Those of a particular age may recognise the Paxman Valenta engine which we've sampled...) Give it a whirl if you like, and if you enjoy it then we're out on a six-date UK tour this September too where we'll be playing some more BR-themed tunes as well as some of our back catalogue. You can stream it here through your preferred service, or if you really like it you can buy it on Bandcamp. Here's the tour poster for those of you that like live music - the photo was taken at Crewe Heritage Centre who kindly let us have the run of the place to ourselves for the day. Where's the TSW link? Well, it's been a while since I'd written any new music, looking for inspiration, and it struck whilst playing TVL one evening - do a concept album based around the various British Rail sectors! I'm the one at the front wearing the Railfreight Metals patch, straight from the in-game Class 37 (which also forms the inspiration for the B-side). So thanks to DTG and especially the creators of TVL for inspiring me to get back out there and create again!
Good on you mate, I'll have a listen to that tomorrow (oh 'eck later on today, best be back off to sleep!).
Just going to bump this one by saying that we've now got a music video out (comprised of a lot of super archive footage of the HST), and that we're on tour in the UK in just a week so do come out and say hello if we're near to you. Tour tickets can be picked up here: linktr.ee/vieon (Nobody will be turned away due to lack of funds by the way - we get it's a tough time to be spending so any issues just drop me a message and I'll stick you on the guest list, no questions asked)
Awesome tune and so much nostalgia in the video. If you'd have done this in the early 80s, it would probably have been used for promotional purposes. It's a shame that this weekend sees the last Cross Country HST services from Plymouth to Leeds and Scotland.
Just heard you on the Chaos Emergency Doof Broadcast - it's a cool song - reminds me a bit of Metroland too
