    Hello,

I do not know why Dovetail haven't created all of their Routes to start at a Buffer Stop and end at a Buffer Stop. There is the London Victoria to Brighton line, but it is so annoying when you create a Timetable like, London Paddington to Swansea or Sheffield to London St Pancras as it states on the Timetable but you never complete the lines.

I would be interested to know other People's opinions

    Thank You,
    Gibson

I get what you mean, it does feel a little bad when you drive for maybe... 30 to 40 minutes only to have to give up your service to an AI driver that'll continue all the way to the terminal station.

I will say though, seeing the other side, doing buffer stop to buffer stop can be challenging if the route doesn't stop for a pretty long distance. While DTG probably won't start making some... the PC Editor community certainly seems to be getting at it :)

The reason they aren't buffer to buffer is because of the games capability, if all routes were buffer to buffer, they would crash and not be playbale because the size of it. BML as an example the amount of work that needs doing to it and it is barely holding on to it's capability of being in game, you can see the struggle with lag in London Victoria and also the 700 not able to be added because of the current state. It would be nice but it's just the matter of the fact it can't always happen.

Full routes is something I'd very much like to see - or at least to a realistic hand off point. For example, East Coast Mainline Kings Cross to Edinburgh usually has a crew change at Newcastle. That would be a realistic hand off point. Neither Peterborough or Doncaster are realistic hand off points.

As far as I understand, full routes aren't released on TSW because of the effort required to model such a long single route and the associated price. There are also storage and memory limitations.

If routes of > 1 hour are introduced, I'd like to see the option to terminate early at any station and still receive the AP points. Requiring players to go all the way to end of the route each time may be unrealistic, like ECML would be 3 hours 25 just from Kings Cross to Newcastle.

There are the two versions of the Island Line that are buffer to buffer so that’s one to try out.

It certainly is quite satisfying to start and/or end a service at a terminus in the game but the reality of route selection and the sometimes very long distances between two termini means that can’t always be the case.

    Hello TrackingTrains,

I completely understand your view and that is also my point. The fact that Dovetail Games are creating multiple routes in several months that aren't completely realistic is baffling to me, for example, like you have just said that a handover at Peterborough or Doncaster isn't realistic, but a change over at Sheffield (I have seen their handovers) and a handover at London's King's Cross is realistic, so why don't Dovetail Games just spend their time expanding the Routes in which are already in the Game to the Buffer Stop Stations in which we have mentioned.

This would still keep the business end of things for Dovetail Games going, and it would interest players more with full, accurate, precise, detailed and complete routes.

    Don't you think so?

In addition, I completely support your point of ending a service at any Station if you wish with a complete route, but for example, as you have just stated that a single trip from London to Newcastle would be 3 Hours long, and I totally understand where you are coming from but isn't that the whole point of a SIMULATION Game??

    Thank You,
    Gibson

    Hello StuJoy,

I will have to give that Route a chance then, thank you.

I just wish for complete lines on all Routes that have and are to be created for TSW. I believe that would make the Game a whole lot more interesting and more of a realistic Simulation Game.

    Don't you think so too?

    Thank You,
    Gibson

    Hello Tyler,

Please forgive me. I may only be 23 but I am not very intelligent technologically.

I was just very surprised to see a Company dedicated to making SIMULATION Games not all that realistic. My point is that the Routes in the Game, for example, Doncaster to London Kings Cross is on the Timetable but the line for us stops at Peterborough, given the implication that this Is a Handover Station, but it is not.

I just don't know why Dovetail can not create AI traffic similar to the Southeastern High Speed Route. This Route runs very well even with all the traffic implemented into that Route.

But, I do not know about limitations and capabilities of our Consoles and Computers.

    Thank You,
    Gibson

I am not very technological either, I just like to expand peoples knowledge :) But to my best knowledge about why some buffer to buffer to stops can't happen, I'll take your example, Doncaster - London Kings Cross, I'll explain why. The reason it isn't fully completed to London Kings Cross is because in short terms the problem is the mileage and scenery. First with mileage, TSW are looking into creating longer routes and testing their limits but unfortunately this won't come over night, it takes quite a lot of testing. With me knowing hardly anything about technology I will try and explain this bit the best I can: Still explaining mileage, lets also bring in scenery. Now we know Doncaster - Peterborough is what, 75 miles, which lets be honest is a big stretch of track and brilliant mileage to have in game. But when you're driving the route what do you see, a few houses now and then, fields, beautiful countryside and some buildings around Peterborough and Doncaster. This is good because with having most of the route as countryside, it allows more things to be added because all they need to do is lay out the land and wack fences, trees, and maybe other stuff is well. These won't take up much "storage" (in the very simplest term(think of storage on your computer or console)). But if this route was extended to London Kings Cross it would need a lot of scenery work needed to be done for the areas in London meaning a lot of pieces and buildings are going to be added which will cause lag (like it lags in the BML route at London Victoria). To expand on what I've just said it's like throwing a lot of little pieces in one area (London) meaning the game has to load all them pieces when you're approaching London having to load a lot of things at once. TSW allows lower and higher generation consoles to play the game and also lower end and higher end PC's to play the game, so for example if a low end pc or PS4(lower gen console) player was arriving from Doncaster into London King's Cross, it still has all that scenery behind loaded and also London meaning it's piled all these things together and these lower gen consoles or lower end pc's can crash the game and make the route unplayable. TSW did say they wanted to do London Kings Cross to Peterborough but issues occurred and some reasons were because of the length of that section of the route. The final factor is also what engine TSW runs off of which is Unreal Engine 4 which can limit how much they can put into the game/route. But for example there is an Unreal Engine 5 which can massively improve what they can add to the game but that will cause a lot of hassle moving from one engine to the other essentially having to create a new game and a new routes and DLC's. I could be wrong with some things I said but I have said to what extent I know. I hope I have explained what you wanted to know once again I am not technologically knowledgeable to explain fully but I hope I have given you some understanding. Hope you have a wonderful day! :)
