It's been documented already in a few threads here that the F40 will give a full service train brake application (18-19 pound reduction) for no reason - even with alerter & ATC/ACSES isolated. It does not cut the throttle like any normal brake application initiated by the safety systems.

I've just tried a Boston - Readville train, and between Forest Hills (pass) and Readville this happened around 5 times. Besides the unwarranted brake demand I noticed another bug - with the brake stuck on, and being still on the move (and being slowed by the brake) I cut the throttle and put the reverser to neutral in an attempt to work a way out of it. I found that I could get power AND traction when the reverser was in neutral.

Something strange is going on with the F40's logic. The only way to get the brake to release is to wait a while and keep spamming the alerter reset button. This shouldn't do anything when safety systems are isolated either.

In the end I quit as the whole thing was undrivable. The cab car seems to work normally, these bugs are just in the cab of the noisy end, so I'm destined only to work Northbound services.
