Hi everyone, I would like to tell you about a problem in TSW 5. During a game in timetable or scenario mode I sometimes save and then re-enter the game (Important note: I saved BEFORE the doors opened.). In timetable mode I do this to collect collectibles at stations during a stop. Then I exit to the menu and load again if I see I'm behind schedule. After that I sometimes get a situation where the passenger boarding progress bar doesn't fill up (see screenshot). Nothing helps, no reboots, no loading from a checkpoint, no resetting the simulation. I first encountered this in the "Extra Time" scenario on the Cathcart Circle Line at Glasgow Central station, yesterday the same failure caught up with me in timetable mode "2N22 Glasgow Central - Neilston", the most frustrating thing is that this is the last stop before completion. Progress bar hangs up and again nothing helps. I just feel sorry for the wasted time, I go play scenario or timetable and on finish I can't complete it because of a bug.

Please respond if anyone has experienced the same problem, is it possible to get Dovetail involved to resolve this?

Savegames are not safe. They were removed in TSW3, I think it was mainly OldVern who put pressure on DTG to put them back in the game, but "use at your own risk".

I'd recommend collecting stuff in Freeroam, not during a regular service. I've never seen a driver disembarking at each station running around the platforms. TSW makes you do silly things ;)

Rule number 1: Never ever trust the savegame functionality, it has never worked without issues!

You should run each service in one session to avoid these problems.
Just create a scenario for the collectibles and then complete station by station, no saving, no loading, no problems.

    Scenario? There's freeroam.

Rule number 2 (for me personally): Hands off freeroam!

It often doesn't work either. Quite a few locos simply don't want to move in freeroam. And waiting for the next AI train takes too long. I prefer to quickly create a simple A to B scenario which I delete at the end. ;)

Sure? For me, everything is working in freeroam.

Wasn't aware of this, is there somewhere I can read about the reasons for the decision to refuse to save? The game somehow creates checkpoints that can be used as "insurance" in case of unexpected things.
Yeah, I guess I'll do that to avoid unwanted consequences. Of course, running around the platforms is rather funny, but I just wanted to "kill two hares" (in Russia we say that when we mean trying to do several things at once:cool:).
I understand, but it's not always possible to get through a scenario or schedule in one run, even if it's only ~30 minutes, in these situations saving is the only option. I tried playing SimRail once and the lack of saves was one of the reasons I gave for not playing further.
More often it's easier for me to just load at the target station and pick up collectibles, but a direct run from A to B is also a fine option, too. Well TSW 5 kinda has "teleportation" (at least based on the announcements).

Just browse the General Discussion forums back to when TSW4 was released...

TSW5 has introduced 'Fast Travel'. While I am unable to play TSW at the moment, perhaps someone else who feels like replicating the issue (or even the OP themselves) can try abandoning the service and then taking it over again, seeing if that helps.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was talking about when I said "teleportation", but I haven't tried it yet and don't know how the feature works.

    Sorry, I should have clarified:

Stand up, press shift+F (or look at one of the markers on the live map) then select a station to teleport to. It will ask if you want to give up the service: press yes. It will then ask if you want to fast travel: press no. Then take over the service again, and see if the progress bar works.

The thing is, I've already re-played and completed the timetable. But I will try this method if I encounter such a problem again. Only I didn't understand, how do I get back into the running service if I abandon it? Or according to your instructions I won't be thrown out of the task?
Anyway I thank you for your help and instruction:)!

If you abandon the service, the AI will take over. You simply snatch it back from the AI, like you would if you took over a service at an intermediate stop. The game won't let you take over a moving train (or a service that is not drivable by the player) but it will allow you to hijack a stationary train.

You will be thrown out of the task, but you'll get it back when you take control again (on some routes, you'll get a perfect AI score as well!)
