Hi Can anyone relieve my curiosity please? It seems that Johannes has made a pretty decent DLC (Mildmay) line himself. I'm trying to understand if anyone (who has the tech skills) could do this just using the freely available tools? Or was there access to something from DTG? Obviously to release the DLC would require DTG help. Only the line build. Or perhaps there is other content about which is of a simil;at quality that I don't know of,
as said in the stream. DTG helped with the release and there's a decent team of developers helping each other. as far as I recall what has been said. Johannes made the route himself completely
Never used the editor, but it has all the tools available in the game to create your own content. DTG and other third parties probably helped Johannes with the polishing of the route.
I briefly looked at the editor when it first came out, but despite being an experienced route builder in MSTS, Trainz and TSC it left me bewildered and bamboozled. It is not a simple or easy tool to use by any means. As regards the train building, you will need a suitable 3D modelling package with plug ins to UE (not sure if the freeware Blender supports this) and a graphics package that supports current standards for creating textures. A 20 yo copy of Paint Shop Pro 7 (which still cost me £60 back in the day) isn’t going to cut it. I certainly can’t see anyone making something for TSW without some sort of support or guidance along the way.
You must be the first person I've ever interacted with that bought PSP instead of the er, "other" way
Thanks for the info OldVern. There are some talented modders out there. So thought they might be more routes devleoped. I did hear Johannes say it had taken him over a year I think. And he obviously has some experience given his using his models from Transport Fever for the DLR trains. My programming skills maybe up to the task... patience to learn editor... maybe less so... and my artistic flair is non-existant!
