Buying (discounted) Marketplace Items Without Required (undiscounted) Content

I'm tempted to take advantage of some heavily discounted Marketplace liveries and scenarios but as the underlying required DLC is too expensive I won't be buying that yet.

Will TS or Steam allow the purchase, and if so, will the marketplace items work when I do buy the required DLC ?

Yes you can buy the DLC and have the license, but no they won't work in game, if anything you'll either get a "missing" message due to missing GEO files or you'll see nothing but blank space

 

I've bought a few engines without having the route its scenarios are for, then picked up said route latter and got said scenarios without issue. So while I can't say anything with complete certainty, I would assume same logic should apply to add on liveries.

He isn't asking if it will work when he buys it, he's asking if it will work once he buys the required content.

 

Ah OK. In that case I would recommend uninstalling and reinstalling when you do get the requirements as it may need geos copying and the program wouldn't know that from installing the base unit, but would when installing the reskin / overlay etc
