Ever since I left the yard scenarios it’s been dark and I can’t enjoy the terrain scenery. Is there any way to change the environment from night to day?

There are plenty of daytime services is timetable mode and if you set the date to 20th June you will get the most daylight hours. For services that will always be in the hours of darkness it’s trial and error with a clear sky (using custom weather instead of dynamic weather) and changing the month to try and get a full moon. It is still only a very very small amount of moonlight but it makes lighter scenery just about visible.

Another way of seeing the scenery at night is to set the ground snow level slider high in a winter month (again with a clear sky) but then you will be driving very slowly on the hills due to lack of traction.

I love one of the storm scenarios on this route. The only thing that I could determine was moving was the Speedo and the rain effect cycling. Everything else was simply testing the black level on my monitor

For night time runs on CJP I generally use an external camera view. I'm usually perched on the shoulder of the lead loco. This gives much better visibility compared to the cab view, especially in heavy rain or snow at night.

Actually I rather enjoy Cajon at night, at least in fairly clear weather. There are enough lights in the distance, plus the stars, to make it a visual treat and a relaxing ride.

(Well, uphill. Downhill can be a little white-knuckle....)
