PS5 Cajon Pass Coupling Fault

In the marshalling yard, started loco pair ok, gone to refuel, the fuel cap it asks you to remove is on the wrong side of the loco so removed the one nearest to the pumps as well so this is a little bug. Set points to route through to the rest of the train, arrived, unlocked the couplings on both trains, nudged the other trai9n and it showed couplings together but it kept showing a distance of 15 ft and did not change no matter what I did. Uncoupled and tried again, same result would not show less than 15 ft so would not change onto next step.
Any body can confirm what's happening and why?
This is on PS5 version.
