I believe that light is a crucial aspect of the game, and that the laws of physics should apply not only to wheels but also to lighting in a simulation. Currently, no light from the carriages appears outside, such as through windows, onto the surroundings like tunnels, facades, walls, tracks, etc. This means there is no reflection or light scattering in the environment, especially with long passenger trains.

We all know that during a night ride, the light from the carriage windows reflects on tunnels or the ground of adjacent tracks. Unfortunately, this is not the case in TSW X, and it quickly feels like something is missing or not quite right. Therefore, the calculation of light on the environment is just as important as shadows or wheels, especially in a world built with Unreal Engine.

Are there any plans to improve the lighting in TSW X in the future?

u7.jpg In World of Subways 2 – Berlin Line 7, the lighting inside and outside has been very well implemented. Naturally, I understand that it's not the same engine as in TSW, but the overall lighting in the environment and on trains/carriages, etc., would indeed be somewhat improved.

I guess TSW will break under the load for the target hardware. It's using almost exclusively lights with shadow casting disabled, therefore not being blocked by solid walls.

To avoid the light protruding unwanted areas, sometimes the radius gets shortened, resulting in black passengers inside a lit saloon.

The whole lighting system is very much a compromise in TSW. (And not even standardized across DLC). Can be rightfully called a "mess".

Hi ‍♂️Spikee, thanks for explaining the light "thing" and for your description. The phenomenon you described with the light is something I've noticed a few times in TSW 3 and I already thought it was a bug. It's funny when the heads light up or even now in TSW 5, the passengers' hair lights up. However, your description brings some solace to the soul.
