The camera position, while able to rotate 360 degrees around the train, is located at a fixed distance from the train. Is there some way to increase that distance, i.e. move it father away from the train?
Are you referring to Train Simulator Classic or Train Sim World (TSW)? In either sim, you should be able to zoom the external cams in or out using the up and down arrow keys on your keyboard.
Hold SHIFT key then either use the mouse to pan in and out of the up and down arrows on your keyboard.
All of you have misunderstood my question. I know how to move the scene (the camera position does not move) around the camera with the right mouse click and a drag or use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out, but that's not what I'm asking. The camera is in a fixed position in reference to the scene, it doesn't move, the scene or train moves around or in and out with the sim mouse or key controls. I want to move that fixed camera position farther away from the train and still be able to rotate the scene and zoom in and out. In the old MSTS program it was possible to do this by setting parameters for the camera, perhaps Dovetail Games Train Sim Classic doesn't provide any way to accomplish this. Or am I in the wrong forum to ask this technical question?
Press the 8 key and then use the arrow keys to move the camera from its initial position. Press Shift at the same time to move the camera faster.
I think i understand what you are trying to accomplish, You wish to move the camera closer and further from the train when in the follow mode (2 or 3 Cam). The up and down arrow keys will accomplish this.
