Can I Detach The Hst Powercars?

I would like to be able to detach powercars from both the GWR and EMT HSTs. If possible how can I do this?

There are a few reasons why I want to do this:
1- Diesel gala, on the wsr I want to use the HST powercars to pull trains and use other locos on the mk3s
2- Use powercars on freight such as done by rail adventure
3- Use mk3s on railtours
4- Run powercars light together

 

You can only use the consists DTG have pre configured in Scenario Planner.

 

I believe that the sets are semi permanently coupled in reality, which seems to have been replicated in TSW. This type of coupling is achieved with bar type connections which means that locomotives with draw hooks or buckeye couplers (or any other type) cannot be coupled up to these Mk3s. I would however like to see a back to back power car configuration made available to use as this is a rare but unusual formation.

 

I believe if you play on PC you can disconnect the powercars but am unsure as to whether it's an in game ability or done via a mod. It sadly isn't possible if you play on console

 

Back to back power car config already exists in TSW. Just not really used. If you have Birmingham crosscity, you can drive the back to back powercars on the following service:

 

I believe the power cars are only disconnected in specific circumstances. Probably cannot be replicated in TSW.

 

In reality the mk3's and power cars use alliance buckeye couplings. This means they can be easily detached and remarshalled.
Obviously in todays railway its not often necessary so its rare to see outside of a depot.
