Can I Make A Post Without Abuse Please?

  1. If people on these forums have nothing better to do with their time apart from gaslight those of us who go out of their way to inform the uninitiated that Train Sim World is worth it, can they receive a 3 month ban please?

They have no rights to be on the forum.

Fair enough if someone wants to point out an issue but unfortunately there are some still that think trolling and gaslighting is something they can do here.

While I am sure it is a form of abuse and violates the conditions of the forums of Dovetail Live.

I am merely making some reflections (my apologies to PS5/4 and Xbox players who have had major issues which have received several fixes in the last week I believe) of the accuracy of the game.

I just checked London Commuter and it has correct animations of passengers getting on and off the trains.

I am sure if you make a thread with your issues it will get looked at by the team. They are on top of it.

I bought Midland Mainline after the massive complaints it received and it worked for me the first week.

If this game doesn't work for you we want to help.

Also DTG do a splendid job in making fixes for the more serious issues very quickly.

The rollingstock and routes released with TSW4 not only were seen very favourably by me but many in the Train Sim World community. The expectations weren't good but they were actually quite surprised.

I think you are gaslighting the community that is fighting for improvements and bugfixing - stuff you will benefit from.

You are not the one to dictate who has a right to be on the forums or not. Nobody's called for banning you, have they? Think about it.

And publicly complaining about forum members will not make you, let's say, a "welcomed" member on these forums. Arbitrary postings about things that do work are not helpful unless they help to distinguish user error from real bugs.

It's really no use if there's passengers missing on route A, to post pictures from passengers on route B. It's even pretty disrespectful.

    Action -> Reaction.

  4. You said Rush Hour.

What route do you need confirmation with?

I have just checked random stations and am completely satisfied that there are passengers and lots of them.

A picture of a train at a platform does not mean it 'works'

London Commuter does not have RH passengers last time I checked. There are still game breaking bugs. Features announced for TSW4 have not fully released. Routes are of general poor quality.

I truly hope you are not being abused here- it's important to realise calling you a troll for your either enormously one-sided view or possible baiting is not abuse.

Also- most of us here who complain do so because we know this game can give so much more, and that it is hindered by the lack of care by DTG. We want this game to be good, otherwise yes, we would have left long ago and moved on.

You need to open your eyes more, consider the viewpoints of others before making half-hearted remarks and calling for people to receive three month bans...

  8. People can troll and gaslight somewhere else.

If I'm here I will ensure they get called out.

I want to help people and if people have an issue I will try my best.

But if any of you want to abuse me then I will be asking for your removal.

If you disagree with a post then you can do it politely, right? As you have done. Without breaking the TOS.

    Well done.

But if people want to just come and slur others and gaslight and troll then I will be highlighting it.

You may diagree, but that is what I will do.

  10. I always thought being an employee in the railways came with a certain base level requirement of resilience and a tendency to not be too bothered by hurty words. I appreciate the culture is shifting which is most definitely a good thing, but as others have pointed out, highlighting areas where the product could and should be better should not be perceived by your good self as a personal attack.

    Hey everyone,

as I said in the other thread, I ask that you choose kindness over harshness when replying to someone on here.
Criticising us as a company is fine, it's how we learn and become better.

But trying to tell someone else how to enjoy something is not right. You wouldn't want others to do that to you.
So again, please help fostering a wholesome atmosphere by being kind and respectful to each other.

    All the best,
    Jan

OP why do you keep writing posts that are designed to be controversial? I would say that the OP's post is the "quarrelsome" one here because it's worded to be combative and draw responses from the mere mortals amongst us who sit on the fence with DTG's releases and are not just fanboys whom never critic a thing.
Take away the OP's post and there would be no controversy here. .
The premise that you are the only user who is capable of commenting on the quality of DTG releases could be interpreted as arrogance. Before the mod jumps up and down I said "could be".
It's great that you are in love with DTG and I hope you have a great future together, but the fact remains there are a lot of things wrong with this generally good game, and the way to get things fixed is not to go all spaniel eyes at them but to raise the criticisms, that's how things get fixed.
Also if you are so in love with this game why are you always on here standing on your soapbox lecturing people and trying to wind them up that they have got it all wrong and should never find anything wrong with the game? Perhaps because of your frequency here you are actually missing the countless bugs?
As was said above you are benefitting from the improvements brought to the game by fair and balanced criticism. As for the allegation that you are being abused, well that is an insult to people are really abused in real life.

If you're going to come on a forum for a product where most users have mixed views of it and post over ebullient, somewhat blinkered praise on it, expect to get the counterpoint. If you want your views to go unchallenged then start your own website or blog that no one else can comment on.

A forum is for discussion even though we might not always agree, not for beating people into submission with your keyboard. If you can't take a bit of banter, don't dish it out.

Let me just reiterate what I said above, it's not that people are disagreeing, it's how some members chose to word their disagreement.
As we like to say in Germany, the tone makes the music (sorry for the horrible translation).

It's one thing to disagree with someone, but telling them they're wrong for posting on a forum just because they have differing opinions is not right.
Likewise you can't blame someone else for your reaction to a forum post. If you react by insulting and then get chastised , you then can't turn around and say "but they asked for it".
If you suspect a post to be "ragebait", stay away from it. You have the option to not engage with posts. You can even ignore users and never see their messages again, should you really not see eye to eye with them.

In the undying words of Alex Winter & Keeanu Reeves: Be excellent to each other. And party on dudes. (Although the latter part might not be as appicable here, I have to put in the full quote)

    I'd rather recommend being rational.

The advice to "be kind" is almost exclusively used by people who are anything but kind themselves.

And demanding three month bans for forum members, saying they have no right to be on the forums, is highly provocative and I would call it bait.

Provoke people, and when they react say "see how they abuse me". It's a pattern of behaviour commonly used by narcissists.

    Party on Wayne ;)
    Meddl off.

  18. This. Its a two way street though, and is a bit of a hot potato here with regard to intent to offend.
If one dives deeper its that which is the balance point and for me personally I need nothing more than to know that I've learnt a lot more about the person causing intentional offence than they will ever learn about me. I guess that's an internal resource though and is a lesson learnt the hard way over time.
If someone causes unintentional offence then again the path is easy. Establish knowledge of the unintended offence, offer opportunity for retraction and then either move on or discontinue interaction.
Sometimes though it's so very hard to not try a little re-education along the way...

Making posts with inflammatory titles likely to invite criticism is probably a good way to keep getting the sorts of responses you're experiencing, tbh. And likely to result in allegations, be they true or not, of trolling and posting "bait".

You're always free to keep posting nothing but praise for the game, but like it or not, that is going to result in responses from people with legitimate critiques of it.

I was directly referring to this post, its title, and the combative posts found within it, summed up in statements like "You are both wrong". It's a way of engaging with others which is quite unproductive.

Most replies were humorous to that thread.

You can't expect to be liked by everyone. Deal with sarcasm. There's a wide range of personalities, some soft, some harsh on the forums, as in real life. That's ok.

As this thread is starting to evolve around one forum member, I advise to use the Ignore button and dtg_jan please lock this thread.

  23. Again you are morally equivalating.

One minute you say I was provocative, the next you say I can't expect to be liked by everyone.

The fact is trolling and gaslighting and abuse will not be tolerated.

And you are saying it's fine.

You are the one that is most defensive about my calling for a ban.

    Wonder why?

I didn't call you any name or insult you.

    Did I?

Can I Make A Post Without Abuse Please?

  28. Again, name calling is abuse and violation of TOS on these forums.

I guess this is why we are seeing so many insults flying around.

But to be factual you are required to be kind.

How can I be trolling (I wasn't called a troll) and nor was I trolling when I make an OP sharing my perspective on a game. It wasn't directed at a group of disappointed people. I was merely saying when we have disappointments in life we can choose to get over it or let it become a chip on our shoulder like some are doing and bringing it out in tantrums on any of my posts not intended to insult or offend anyone.

  30. Great that you enjoy the game. Not so great is you labelling those who point out issues mistaken, or suggesting that any and all concerns will be addressed when there is plenty of evidence to the contrary.
Avoid doing that and you'll avoid the ridicule.

  31. I won't go into it the exact form of insult but personal attacks in these forums are violations of TOS.

I think they are pretty strict on keeping things nice.

I am trying my best to keep it nice to.

Good to hear a more productive and informed comment.

    Thanks.

  32. Not your call to make when others have paid for a product and been sold short on either promised features, or promised fixes.

By all means share your joy, but as soon as you start talking about others reactions, your going to invite them.
Likewise if someone points out an issue in response to your joy, try empathising instead of dismissing, even if you really couldn't give the tiniest furry wotsit. Preserving your own joy while seeming to care about their issue will enable more than disable the conversation and might even sway an opinion or two in the direction you'd prefer rather than creating an unwanted reaction.
In short, play the room a little more shrewdly.

So for the first moment, I just try to follow and understand your argumentation.

I needed to google what "gaslight" means to understand what you actually mean, as I didn't know that term before.

So, what you mean is that you feel that some people try to manipulate your opinion, basically your positive into a negative one (probably the one of the other person).

I think we all have the right to share our feeling and experience about the product "TSW" in this forum, independently whether this is a good or negative one.

Being in a discussion-based forum of course leads to reactions to statements. And this very dependent upon the way how the first action was placed/stated.

I don't think anyone is actively trying to manipalute anyone else here (unless you can give an exact example for where something like this should have happened). Giving a response to your comment like "How can you unsee these bugs?" or "Okay, but XY is not correct with this" is not a manipluation of your mind. It's just a reaction and/or opinion of anybody else. Nothing more, nothing less. And giving the fact that a forum like this is indeed discussion-based, I rather would think what do you expect else in here than discussing about TSW? Might it be for the good or the bad.

Everyone has a right to share his or her opinion, and a counter-reaction to anything raised in here. This is true for me the same as you.

It's not correct if anyone else actually tries to really manipulate your opinion in the sense of "gaslighting". But just sharing a form of criticism (might it be correct or even false) is not a form of gaslighting, in my opinion.

This is a forum where we share our thoughts and issues and yes also our feelings about the end product TSW, people talk, agree or disagree with each other about the given objectives. That is literally the reason why this forum exist. It's a compendium of all thoughts about the product, negative or positive, positive or negative.

But this has nothing to do with how you should feel about and experience the product. I think you take the negative complaints way too personal (for whatever reason) as these are not raised against you as rather Dovetail Games.

And it's also not your turn to "inform the uninitiated that Train Sim World" is worth it. Every new player should form his own opinions and experience about it. And in fact, there are players out there who just infinitely love the product without having any issues and complaints about it at all.

But on the other side, this also does not give them the right to manipulate the ones who do have problems and issues with the game or the company, and form their negative into positive opinions either.

Everyone has their own opinion. And this is good. The forum is a placed where all of this should be discussed and needs to be discussed in order to improve the product.

Because in the end, whether you like TSW in its current state or not, this is for sure what al of us want, without any exception.

  34. Excuse me, where did I label anyone as mistaken?

I merely posted some screenshots. And that inflames? Rolls eyes......

Please no one has bothered to post a video or screenshots of something wrong here. Please do....

If you are referring to passengers in Rush Hour, please enlighten me.

Or whatever issue you are referring to.

Otherwise don't be offended as there is nothing to take personally as you are not mistaken in the slightest then, are you? Because obviously you have no issues.

  35. Refers to a post from yesterday where I had posted about a Driver's perspective on TSW4. A review of sorts.

Several insults and personal attacks were made unnecessarily. They were removed.

But thank you for your well written post, I agree, everyone can post their opinion.

I just think insulting others on here is ridiculous. It needs to stop.

It is a form of bullying and when a whole bunch of people start on it it isn't pleasant especially when you are trying to help others.

I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Thank you.

  36. "For those of you that are consistently disappointed let me assure you of something.

There is no other game on this planet that I think can get close to Train Sim World. If there is I don't know about it.

There are the occasional bugs but guess what?
There is so much content in the game that you can find something else to do while it gets fixed."

Failing to recognise the concerns of others, being dismissive of their issues or speaking for them is to fail to recognise the validity of their position or argue effectively against it, and is generally not something that you can do without consequence. To then hide behind squeals of outrage when people rightly express annoyance at your dismissal of their issues is to invite further contempt.

You made a completely irrelevant link between maybe being a driver in WA and being a complete repository of knowledge on anything to do with this simulator and implying anyone with an even slightly negative opinion is so utterly wrong they should be ashamed. I will no longer engage as I believe and hope you are making these to incite these responses, not because you actually feel this way. God help you if you do!

There’s a quote I really want to leave here but you keep accusing people of abuse so i won’t go down that path.

  38. I remember when Rush Hour came out. I enjoyed it somewhat but found it needing some work for sure.

But today we have an epic route which is Dresden Riesa.

Also the other Rush Hour routes are great to.

I have never much been into the SEHS or London Commuter- Brighton.

I am glad DTG has continuously improved them.

They have come a long way.

When Train Sim WOrld first came out it was great graphically but physics wise and train handling wise it was awful.

They only have a limited budget and like Steam it will take a few years for them to get all the different controls in.

    It takes time.

    But it is worth it.

On the same hand, the launch of TSW4 has been exceptional and they have done a great job. It is highly polished compared to years gone by. The only problem is a few updates caused big problems for Xboxs and Playstation owners.

I think in the case this really happened to you yesterday, the focus of your OP is maybe put a bit wrong (accidentally), so a bunch of people feel offended by that and you get all the dirt now. For cases like that where a certain person is bullying you for literally nothing, I rather would contact the website holder and/or the mods per DM or email. Hint: Take Screenshots in case the posts get removed.

This probably would have been better as all the people will continue snowballing at you now, because they react to what you stated, but maybe meant it in a different way. A classic misunderstand/confusion.

Can not say anything else as this would have been the way I would have done in your situation.

  40. Your view. It is only your view, and holds validity for no one but you. You can take pleasure in your view, but don't expect others to share it.
PS- next time you find a game you enjoy, think carefully before going on any forum that deals with it. Forums are the fastest way to kill your enjoyment of a title short of blowing up your computer..

  41. The problem is many are not happy that bugs and issues still exist and they take it out on someone that makes a positive review.

You are hated for anything positive and the bullies come out.

I think raising it in this fashion is just a call out to make people think so they can hold back their emotions.

There are plenty of hate threads in this forum, like Enough is Enough. They can vent in there.

And that's the problem, a group is rubbishing DTG on their own forums and then when someone dares to say "Hey it's a great game" they come out and start insulting you because they have this group think. https://www.verywellmind.com/what-is-groupthink-2795213

By their standards you shouldn't be allowed to say that. But this is not their forums.

Coming from someone who hasn't purchased the game and has been watching on the sidelines to see how it was received I'd have to respectfully disagree. Reading posts and it seems like there have been issues with all of the routes and features in combination with the game breaking issues surrounding crashes etc on consoles. It seems like we've had the typical bugs here and there with a whole host of additional issues. Which seems to be shown as even now there are sales popping up for TSW3 and even TSW4 on xbox and other places.

I do agree with a post by another user who said something along the lines of it does seem like DTG holding BPO to TSW4 is going to force a lot of people to upgrade. It'll be interesting to see how the JT release goes considering the routes have been a bit hit and miss so far on TSW4

    However, with your idea
you not directing your thoughts to people who bullying or potentially bullying you for your positive thinking. Rather you direct this particular concern to the moderators, which I think is a good idea.

They or the website owner should prevent behaviors such as insults and gaslighting behaviors like which happened to you yesterday. And they are the only ones in charge who can help and find an accurate solution to this specific problem.
