Steam [solved] Can't Activate Nahverkehr Freight Layers On Spoorlijn

I own Nahverkehr Dresdent, Spoorlijn Zwolle-Groningen, and the Vectron add-on. The Vectron layer can be added to Nahverkehr but I can't add it or the freight cars to Spoorlijn.

 

Also cannot active Arosa train and cars for Bernina, own Arosa and its expansion DLC.

 

I believe it’s the red DB Vectron from Frankfurt-Fulda you need for that, not the Railpool Vectron.

The train from Arosa is not a layer on Bernina. The layer in the selection menu is for services that use the open air coach from the Arosa Anniversary Collection Pack. Do you have that add-on?

 

It says "Nahverkehr Dresden" on each of the layer items including the Vectron.

I just now got the anniversary collection pack, thanks. I provided the screenshot list of all DLC I have to provide that reference.

I wish the game would just say the literal name of the DLC you need to get layers, I have wasted a lot of money messing around guessing.

 

I went ahead and bought TSW5 since it was on sale to get the Fulda route as I think you are correct. The menu is not clear that you perhaps need both the Vectron from Fulda and the Nahverkehr Dresden freight cars?

Also you need the Rhein-Ruhr route to enable tankers. It's simply not listed in the menus what you need, I guess you have to glean that from the product pages. Really should be explained in the game.

 

Yes it’s not always clear from the list. I go off the release articles on the Dovetail Live website as it often explains better what DLC I need for each layer.

No, you’ve got that wrong. Because your last picture clearly says ‘FTF_DB_Vectron’, so that refers to the Vectron from FTF.
Dresden never had its own Vectron.

 

It's a given that I don't have something right. The question is whether it's my fault.

It doesn't in any way list the actually 3 more DLC I would need to activate the layers shown as of that screenshot. It also isn't consistent about what it is listing - both the following items need FTP_DB_Vectron as well, but it doesn't show up until you actually have it - why does it show up in the first item before I have it, but it will show in the second only after I have it, but before I have the additional two layers I need for it as well?

I think it's a bug. Very confusing. I don't think I'm stupid - in fact I've got some background in game development myself. At any rate, figuring it out shouldn't be a test of how clever the user is.

 

I just remembered something that a community manager posted recently about what appears in the layers list. The game can’t automatically reference any DLC that you don’t own to show you what you need. It can say “Not owned” for the layer but it can’t say what DLC you need if you don’t own it and it could be multiple requirements for a layer. So we are relying on the description which can be full of codes and what looks like a list of what is required but is just the DLC you already own. So it isn’t a bug but rather the way it was designed. That’s why we have to look elsewhere to find the actual requirements but you wouldn’t know that from the game. It’s not a case of players being stupid.
