Can't Contact Tru Rail Simulations

I've reached out through email to these people twice with no response. Their P42DC download is missing two critical pieces I need for the locomotive to work properly. The GX_P42_Amtk.GeoPcDx and GX_P42_Cab.GeoPcDx are not present. Can someone point me in the right direction?

 

1. Tru rail is long gone, they dissolved years ago.

2. Those files you must get from the P42 on the steam store, they are not included in the download as doing so would be piracy.

 

It is worth noting that plenty of TS communities ignore the rule about distributing GeoPcDx files, such as the Spanish TS community. If you download a Spanish reskin it will very likely have the model included.

The distribution of GeoPcDx is dependent on the terms and conditions of the developer, and do not count as piracy by themselves. While DTG does not allow their own Geos to be copied, there is no obligation for other developers to have the same policy.

Again, that file is NOT included in the download, you must own the P42 from steam and copy the files from there. The Trurail pack is not a standalone unit-it is an enhancement pack, and thus requires the base unit (P42DC on steam) to run.

 

We have made it clear that you need the requirements for the reskin to work.

As Mfeets has said, if you do not own the P42DC pack on Steam you cannot use the reskin.

 

I have the Empire Builder and Miami P42DC from steam.

 

As I've made it clear just recently I own TWO of the P42DC packs from Steam. So that means the instructions for the enhancement pack are faulty. I'll figure that out later.

 

But is either of those TWO packs the one that the reskin needs?... you've been given this advice...

You've requested help, the guys have supplied it, so why do you seem determined to refuse it?

Have you bothered to read the documentation that the reskin comes with?...

I've read the documentation so why do you refuse to accept the fact that the help provided hasn't yielded the desired results? Neither file is in that location. I just checked.

 

Oh I accept it, I also accept that the reason it hasn't yielded the desired results is because you haven't properly followed the advice or instructions. Which bit of the instructions is causing you the most confusion?

Is that the file I'm supposed to be looking for? I saw that in the textures. Nothing in the instructions said anything about going into the texture files and pulling from there. Perhaps you aren't giving out proper advice or instructions. All I see is Pepsi.GeoPcDx. Neither GX_P42_Amtk.GeoPcDx or GX_P42_Cab.GeoPcDx is around.

 

What part of this don't you understand? Do you not have the RSC P42Pack01?

Post a screen shot of the files in your ..\Assets\RSC\P42Pack01 folder

 

Upon further review the pack is in a .ap file format.

 

In that case use 7-Zip/WinRAR et al to extract the 2 .GeoPcDx files from it into your ..\Assets\RSC\P42Pack01\RailVehicles\Diesel\P42DC\TRS_PhV\Locomotive folder.

 

That explains all of the grief I've been through. Much more difficult than it should've been. Wish it didn't have to be this troublesome but I have the problem solved so thank you.

 

If you'd have been accurate and polite to start with you'd have had this fixed long ago. Take this an opportunity to lose some of that aggression about everything TS and swap it for a little humility.

 

It wouldn't hurt for you do the same. I was right all along. Followed the instructions but people still made it out like I wasn't reading or doing things the right way when in reality that couldn't have been further from the truth. The problem was a file not being extracted like it was supposed to be. That was not my fault. I'm only aggressive when I have to be.

It's these kind of people that can get you into trouble if you're not careful and calm. I've been banned for a week after a similar incident with someone having trouble with consist editor, telling them to get lost if they don't follow the advice I'm giving in my spare time trying to help. Best to ignore them.
