Morning all. I'm trying to edit a career scenario to make it into a standard one, and change some of the stock to AP stock, and the scenario is not listed in LocoSwap, or TSTools. I then noticed many of them are not, and on many routes. It's not a global condition, as some routes will have their career scenarios listed, but many don't list anything but standard and quick drive scenarios. Is there any reason for this? The career scenarios are there in game, and they all work perfectly... they are just not listed in LocoSwap or TSTools.
I think locoswap reads the scenarioproperty.xml so those had to be extracted (with TS-tools). At least it solved the problem for me.
Yeah I had the same with some scenarios on the JT 222 . Until I extracted them I couldn't see them in locoswap only in game.
You can also edit the scenarioproperties.xml file and use find and replace, to change all "Career" mentions to "Standard" (and save).
Actually, you can edit them and the game will accept it. Try it yourself. Find the "ArrivalPoints" in an extracted Career scenario and change it to a higher figure. Ah, perfect score halfway through the run... If the scenario is badly timed - looking at The Argyle Line for WCML North as a good example - you can clone and edit the timetable and replace the scenario. The Midnight Magnet was my test subject on Sherman Hill running it with no timetable and with 1,000 points already banked to start. I already have video of the AP 365 on the ECML South on my channel in a Career scenario. If the scenario is just broken, you can take a completely different scenario and replace it. I have done this for scientific purposes and it works. The original comes back later or on another computer with the checkmark, star, whatever. Scientifically tested using a Mittenwaldbahn scenario. I put a Railfan over the original; five minutes later, I had an achievement. (Yes, I did the original scenario on video as well, if you're wondering.) I have also corrected XP not being rewarded for completed scenarios by similarly replacing it. First test I ever did was the Dresden-Leipzig route, and that got me started. White hat hacking, if you will. Akin to the above, you can clear an achievement by completing a scenario with the scenario's ID. For non-owners, this is the only way to get the Virgin Pendo achievements or the XC 220 achievements, for example. Of course, you have to have the scenario IDs. My next test is seeing if an achievement can be completed by using its related scenario ID on a scenario on another route. This involves, of course, eliminating the original scenario at least temporarily due to going across routes. It could be interesting with Donner Pass, given that only one scenario achievement can possibly be achieved legally and there is a huge playtime required of a slow route (in the realm of weeks) to complete it; this test will involve a high speed route to see if running one of its scenario IDs on a long scenario counts as "playing this DLC". And for the record, you can extract the AP file, remove the AP file, and remove any single scenario and load the game to find it's indeed gone. Fun testing, this has been. Of course, if you are not an expert user and do not know what you are doing, I advise do not do this as you can wreck something. I know where to be careful and what works and can revert my scenarios back to their original form safely following tests. But editing arrival points in scenarios is extremely easy and is why you find every single scenario with 1,000 point scores that are not possible. Just look at the original Portsmouth Direct Line. Removing penalties for forced wheelslip is also handy, such as The Midnight Magnet or NYNH's final Career scenario. You may also be able to remove speeding penalties to be able to keep to timetable; the Larias Fife Circle pack has a really good candidate for this.
But that actually IS cheating. Changing a career scenario into a standard one isn't, because there's no longer any scores, or achievements or whatever (like real life).. but to actually edit a career scenario to just make it easier to complete is simply cheating. I've no idea why anyone wants a "score". Career scenarios just make you drive like an idiot, as can be seen in your videos
I did not say it is or is not cheating. I simply said it can be done. My examples are tests I have done to show that it can be done, and not something I generally do because, as noted, it does not matter. The only time I would condone editing myself is where the top maximum score is not 1,000 or where it is impossible to achieve it. If the objective is impossible, edits are warranted in lieu of updates being published (and fat chance of that). Otherwise I do it properly. I also agree older Career scenarios make you “drive like an idiot”. Newer ones are not that bad. Proper scenario designers. And the last bit…guess I walked into that one. Overall, I want to see Career scoring removed from the menu and possibly even hidden in the game, as I also see no point to it. All scenarios can be completed as timetable scenarios. The only problem is a late stop still gets a checkmark. So meh…
So if you see now point in it at all and want it removed why is that what your vidoes focus around and why bother going to the hassle of editing the scenario files to ensure you get 1000 points every drive you do to uplaod ????????
Can you three just meet up and have an irl punch up because it's getting LOVE**** tiresome. Correction, not getting... Gotten.
It wasn't a welfare check, I couldn't give a flying fig about you, I'm just sick to death of the same people too'ing and fro'ing the same pointless post picking apart arguments all the time, you're actually 9 times out of 10 the target and I'm happy for you that you're fine with it, the rest of the forum members probably not so much.
In this case I figured it was a joke. That is why I took it as one. Well, that and I often refer to myself as an idiot, so it is confirmation. Other times, I am not fine with it. I had no problem with Pookey’s post besides arguing that making a scenario a standard scenario is also cheating in another way (removing the scoring), but if cloned and edited as such that is fine too. I mean, it is a single player game. Everyone has their individual opinions on how to play.
