I have the DL-109 by DTM via Steam that shows 4 Career scenarios for the DL-109 variants in the Career tab under the VNHRR route. I have decompressed the DL-109 ap folder so all sub folders are showing. I tried using RWTools to locate the scenarios which I thought would be under the VNHRR route, but they are not listed. Does anyone know where they are located and can they be accesed? Thanks
Hi miata54, Route scenarios are found under the route folder, for VNHRR, I believe it is: Railworks\Content\Routes\c427bd51-0f8f-4edb-948b-e9b5ceadd48f\Scenarios\ If the route was packed into an .ap file, you will need to extract the contents of the MainContent.ap located in the Railworks\Content\Routes\c427bd51-0f8f-4edb-948b-e9b5ceadd48f\ folder. Hope this helps. Best, Steve
Thanks Steve. I guess I was a bit ambiguous with my request. I have all the scenarios that came with the VNHRR route in the route folder EXCEPT the Career scenarios for the DL-109. No where to be found. They appear in the Career menu in the VNHRR sub menu for selection to run in TSC. I unpacked the DL-109 ap folder but the scenarios are no where listed in any of the sub folders. So my question is, where is the location (folder?) of the Career scenarios? Are they only stored on the Steam server to prevent modifications?
You must have just missed it. Unless they did something very unusual, in the route root itself there is the AP, which you have found. Inside the AP there should be a Scenarios folder. Of course you have to extract recursively. For all practical purposes, you can start up the game, go to Build, Scenarios, select the one you want, and Clone it. You can't really edit career scenarios, what happens depends on specifics but they tend to disappear from the game. If you just want to observe them, the clone is identical enough. It could also help if you describe what you want to achieve.
Hi miata54, All the scenarios for a route are found under the route folder. Whether that's for a loco or for a route, they all sit within the respective structure (see below). There is no server for scenarios to be loaded to, all the files are stored locally on your PC. Railworks\Content\Routes\<ROUTEGUID>\Scenarios\<SCENARIOGUID>\ Where <ROUTEGUID> and <SCENARIOGUID> are the respective GUIDs of each the route and scenario respectively. A useful way to find scenarios based on what you see in-game is to follow the steps below: Launch Train Simulator Click Build Click the Scenario tab Locate scenario and select it Note the folder location is shown in the lower right of the page. Click Open to open the scenario folder in Windows Explorer. See Screenshot: Unlike other aspects of the game, scenarios are automatically extracted from the .ap file when you play them. Best, Steve
Correct => Content\Routes\c427bd51-0f8f-4edb-948b-e9b5ceadd48f\SpringfieldLineDL109Scenarios.ap Extract SpringfieldLineDL109Scenarios.ap. I also found out through debugging why the headlights on the New Haven DL-109 Loco don't work in v74.8a (32-bit / 64-bit).
OK all, thanks for your feedback. It was the pic you provided Steve that answered my question. I did not read the box you highlighted in red which provides the path to the scenario. When I followed the path to the end, I found the DL-109 scenarios ap folder, UNPACKED. A simple extraction provided me with the scenarios and in particular the one I was looking for, Conneticut Yankee. You see why in attached pic. Does anyone know what is going on here? I did try to amend another Career scenario but got an erro message when trying to save my changes. It said "Warning- Save Disabled". I guess that is a way to say that you can't alter a Career scenario! My changes did not save. The DL-109 issue is still not fixed. Don't know if DTG will ever address it.
That's why you want to read my response. :p Clear cache (in-game, Settings), Verify file integrity (Steam, resetting all custom changes - messing things up), and ensure your scenery density is at maximum (in-game, Settings).
I cleared the Cache, my scenery setting was at full density and of the 5 DL-109 Career scenarios, my Conneticut Yankee is the only scenatio showing these abnormalidies. If you have the DL-109, what does your Conn Yankee look like?
Excuse me, missed it earlier. I don't have it However, the missing stuff seems to scenery. Sometimes DLC adds scenery and rail network. Can you tell the starting location? (Showing the map. Manual doesn't say.) Guess I could create a quick free roam to check the location. If you create another scenario with the same starting location, does the track show?
I am a nepphyte in regards to scenery creation. Never have created a freeroam. You reference the map. Are you looking for longitude/latitude co-ordinates ot just a screenshot that shows the location? And where do I find the map function? Also, I occasionally get an error pop up telling me that a scenario can't load/find the track.bin. What does this indicate?
The easiest way to access the map is pressing "camera" 9. Repeat to hide. There are also buttons on the HUD. Just a screenshot, or even a name. I never played Springfield, just plan to (later). So it's just about recognizing the place. Even easier if it's present on the map below, just tell the name Yes, tracks.bin error message suggests it didn't succeed in loading the tracks or some scenery tile. So likely you're missing some files somewhere. Integrity verification (bottom right of the picture below) should restore them to the default state and ideally fix it. Some people play on copies, in which case the merging is up to you I'd first check it on my official in-Steam install anyway. Map from the manual:
First of all, the location is the New Haven Passenger Terminal. When I click on camera key number 9, I get an OOM pop up telling me I don't have sufficient memory in my system. Happens in both 32 and 64 bit mode. I find that hard to believe seeing that I have 32GB of RAM. Is something else at play here? I have done a selective file verification via Steam for the DL-109 package which contains the DL-109 Scenario ap folder. I unpacked that. Career scenario Conneticut Yankee #80 still shows the missing tracks and high elevation. Again, it is the only scenario that lools this way upon loading and the other 4 Career scenarios run without issue.
I'll check in a bit, just need a quick shower, just back from my hill climb walk In the meanwhile - does the extracted version have custom Scenery? Something like this (different scenario). Normally you shouldn't have to unpack anything in order to function. That's normally used if you want to edit / extend the features inside the AP without actually changing the AP. Of course I understand you did it in order to attempt fixing the issue. Okay, edit. Here is what happened. I started the game, went to Build. Using Search I found the route. There was one workshop from New Haven but didn't want to play / rate. Creating a Free Roam offered me wrong starting points. (bug) I assume because I didn't click a route with search. Second attempt worked. Click route, create scenario attempt 2. It was extremely slow, but loaded the waypoints. Proceed. Slow again, but it loaded. Notably, upon entering the world, it was still loading. Similar to what miata54 shows, the tracks weren't yet loaded. Eventually everything was fine, I didn't find the exact location but the area, created two screenshots. There are many yards around, some with platforms. I noted that the route references European Asset Pack as I was offered the 7F and the Black 5 as engines. Make sure you have it installed! Same about the US Asset Pack. Upon pressing D to drive and accepting Save, my game just completely froze mid-action (the button tooltip at half opacity, button pushed. I had to restart as I couldn't close TS from Win-Tab or anywhere else, and it was demanding focus. My Winamp hung in the process, which is a first, but could be a sign of something (GDI crash or something). Edit 2, final. Attempted to start the scenario. It saved apparently. The loading hung around the start a bit, then during the third picture, it completely hung. I wasn't patient enough to give it half an hour to see. Either the S-2 is the problem, or the route / location (some asset/s). Admittedly it's fairly busy, but I can play the new PDL or the NJCL without issues, except low frames here and there.
First, just want to express my appreciation for trying to identify the problem with this scenario. I checked the Career scenario folder and there is no custom Scenery folder within it. The upacked DL-109 scenery assets ap folder also shows no Scenery folder. I have both the US and European Assets Packs. Not sure about the S-2. I have it running in other scenarios and in other routes without issue. I may just delete this scenario and move on from it. Thanks
Solved. Did a selective uninstall/reinstall of the Springfield Line DLC (had been doing this only on the DL-109 Career Scenario DLC) and the Conneticut Yankee lpaded properly. Some file in my Springfield Line was corrupt causing the problem.
