The Cargo Line series continues with Cargo Line Volume 3: Intermodal, out now! Cargo Line Volume 3 continues Skyhook Games’ series of freight-themed gameplay packs that add different freight wagons to formations and more gameplay to selected Train Sim World routes. Cargo Line Volume 3: Intermodal FCA Intermodal Spine Wagon This Add-on introduces the FCA Intermodal Spine Wagon to Train Sim World, as well as the 20ft container. The 40ft container and DB Cargo variant of the Class 66 seen in previous releases also form part of the pack. The wagon consists of a main spine with multiple container locking points between two wheeled bogies. Conventional draw gear and buffers are located at one end, with a permanent connecting bar at the other for linking with a twin. These wagons feature dynamic container load so that no two trains are the same (in-game, some wagons in formations have been preselected not to be loaded). Timetable, Scenarios and Gameplay Gameplay takes place across two routes: West Coast Main Line: London Euston-Milton Keynes + 3x Scenarios and 21 services East Coast Main Line: Peterborough-Doncaster + 3x Scenarios and 12 services Note: these services are substitutions, whereby FCA wagon Intermodal trains run in place of the native Intermodal trains seen on these routes. WCML: London Euston – Milton Keynes is included in Train Sim World 5: Standard, Deluxe and Special Editions. East Coast Main Line is available as a separate route Add-on. Creators Club Tools Both the FCA Intermodal Spine Wagon and Class 66 are supported in Livery Designer and Formation Designer, including both full and empty wagons. The Class 66 also has Raildriver support. A multitude of formation lengths are available to spawn in Free Roam and select in Scenario Planner. Short question: will the pack do anything to MML in future? There are, for example, AI intermodal trains if you have GWE. Will the pack affect those? Just wondering because the three cargo packs are bundled with MML on Steam. Yes, they are all Skyhook products, but still.
Non of the screenshots show branded containers. Will they all just be multicoloured or will branded ones be included in this pack?
They are unbranded 20ft and 40ft containers that will spawn in from a pool of ~12 different colours iirc. iirc skyhook will be replacing AI FKA trains that appear as a layer with playable FCA. This will add ~3/5 playable services
Glad they added the disclaimer about services just being substitutions. Will pick this up on-sale at some point but just a lot less value than the first 2 packs, which is disappointing imo.
Pity it doesn't add any new services to the WCML ,Iam on ps5 and will stick with the current freight layer in the game ,maybe pick this up in a sale
Except for prototypical length trains….I just passed a train with 34 containers. Much better than the standard DTG 20!
Container train passed me this morning. Took about 20 minutes. I stopped counting after 100 cars, many of them double-stacked. Of course there were 4 or 5 locos. Now that's a freight train!!
Thats what I like about Sherman Hill, Cajon Pass etc. Running 80-100 car intermodal double stacks. But also I'd like to see slightly longer UK & mainland European freight trains too.
The German freights seems to be not too bad but UK trains are very poor in comparison unfortunately. I understand that the class 66 is under-powered in TSW hence the reason for shortish trains. The 66 bundled with Cargo Line vol 3 appears to have resolved the issue. I’ve just driven a fully loaded 21 wagon rake of HOA’s and believe me it struggled at times but was so enjoyable!
I have wondered about the 66 being under-powered. I spawned into WCML with 2 66s & 44 HOAs heading up to MK & I reckon I was in notch 8 almost the entire way. They were sweating for sure haha. I feel that German freight trains have definitely gotten longer in the last few route DLCs which is good to see. The BR218 pulls pretty good too.
Well, the 66 IRL isn't all that powerful. A 710 prime mover, yes, but the 12-cyl version not the 16, so its output is around 3200 hp (a bit more than an SD40). And if you want to move 100-car trains... well, it takes four to seven locos in US consists, all of them bigger than a 66.
