The ToD4 lighting upgrade along with the new track and ballast textures really make the route more enjoyable again for me. My only issue with ToD4 is that it can be extremely difficult (near impossible) on Xbox to distinguish between Yellow and Red signals. I have also noticed this on other routes such as MML.
Typo in the Gameplay Guide: Code: Class 66 EWS (CLP) 6 CJP, CCL, RHTT, Class 380 That 'CJP' layer acronym should be 'CLP' (Cajon Pass definitely not required for Cathcart ) Edit: Additionally, the Add-on Compatibility Guide needs updating to put Cathcart for TSW4 in either Orange or Blue (I hope it's Orange?) Edit: Further issue on the Gameplay Guide: Code: Class 385 SR [3Car] (EDN) 16 CCL, FCE, Class 380 FCE should be EDN here, as the 385 comes from Edinburgh-Glasgow.
The upgrade to Cathcart is excellent, the 380 is brilliant, and I LOVE the brilliant train activity at Glasgow Central. Superb.
The service 2M79 has a bug just outside Glasgow got clear signals and suddenly did a unexpected spad on approach to platform as signals even gave me platform number to pull into so was clear to that point however I passed signal at danger without any AWS notification first please look into 2M79 on Xbox series x
This is not a new bug, but when a class 314 is on a corner for example, the couplers don't move and therefore clip into each other: View attachment 162720 View attachment 162721
Totally agree, the same thing happens in PS and it is very frustrating. I have to keep in contact with the dispatcher constantly because you can't distinguish the colours. It kills my immersion because I always play without any hud or on screen help activated. It happens especially on UK routes since TSW 4. I don't understand how after a few days some mod was made for PC to fix the problem, and instead DTG hasn't done anything a year later, considering all the criticism. For everything else regarding the remastered route I think they have done a fantastic job!
I have some feedback for this route.. it's incredible!! i've been saying for years that the timetable makes or breaks a route, this new upgraded timetable is like getting a brand new route here, it's unbelievable really, and this is without the class 158 will will make it even better. to everyone involved in this upgrade, especially the timetable aspect, seriously well done and thank you, it's really a credit to everyone involved! now imagine Fife Circle having a timetable even half this good, when the Leven branch comes in i hope so, so, so much that opportunity is taken!
The remaster is very great, the route feels more alive and modernised with all the colour in the route now, great job! As for feedback, I feel like there should be a Tad more passengers on the platforms at Glasgow Central as it does feel a little empty and quiet on the Platforms. As for everything else, so far so good!
This is on my to buy list when it's on sale and I have done enough of the other routes first. There is no rush but looking forward to building my collection!
I maybe suffering from the Mandela effect, but I could swear there used to be AWS coming into Glasgow Central?
Excellent route upgrade looks fantastic and the 380 is excellent very nice but just one thing I have to say is that I've had a couple of game crashes at Glasgow Central it's extremely annoying especially just before finishing a service (Xbox series S)
I’m on series S and at the moment, I’ve had no crashes around Glasgow Central but my game has been stuttering around there just a little bit.
Fairly certain the last couple of signals on approach not AWS fitted and one of the gantries has the red No AWS through a red cross sign on it. But yes although I've just done the one drive so far, a good update. TOD4 weaknesses, glare etc are something that need to be sorted out at core level and not such an issue in the cloud etc. I found the added reverb for bridges and some of the cuttings particularly effective and certainly made me think BCC is overdue this, on the south western approaches to New Street. I am holding off on getting the 380 despite it seeming to be well received - already handed DTG a fair bit of money in the sale for TSC content plus Maintalbahn, but may grab it later in the year once it starts getting discounted.
The route is very nice, but I cannot spawn on foot with the new timetable, the old one shows up regardless.
95% certain. I guess one answer would be to fire up WCML North and check in TSC but fairly certain same thing coming in off the main lines. Signals close spaced and low line speed so no AWS.
I’ve had one crash so far, managed to drive a return trip to Newton perfectly fine, drove to Neilston then just before arriving back at Glasgow it crashed and I just gave up. Happens on other routes too. Also XB S
The update do ToD 4 is good ! The new lighting system is more enjoyable. I see the Class 314 sounds have been improved, I gave it a try but I find that gears growl is a bit quiet, and in TSW they do not have any audible thyristor buzz/hum when applying throttle, while they did IRL. In TSW, they sound too "light". Example : In fact the 314 IRL sound pretty similar to the now retired french Z6400 that I knew pretty well : I'm waiting for more reviews of the Class 380 before buying it.
Just done a night time run and, apart from the stations which are much improved, it’s the same old almost pitch black. Not how running through a large city should look at all. Most of the lighted buildings look like people are using candles, just a flat faint texture same as we used years ago in MSTS with the old bright or half bright material properties in TSM. These are office blocks and should look like they are lit with bright fluorescent or LED sources. There should be ambient light everywhere, a big city is never really dark. Even crossing the river you would expect the quayside to be bright and bustling but nothing. You really need to load up routes like Tokyo Commuter in TSC or take a look at cities in ATS and ETS2 to see how night lighting should look. This is quite disappointing.
I have found an issue regarding the AI on the Service 2P12 Glasgow Central to Newton. When the service starts, a 385 can be seen coming into Glasgow Central with its Tail lights on.
Try uninstalling Edinburgh-Glasgow if u don't need it. I think the 385s take up a lot of memory. I removed it and seems fine now. The 385s really annoy me as u can hear them from so far away so kinda done myself a favour lol because I no longer have to hear that whine from the other side of the station
It kinda takes away the whole purpose of being able to enjoy the new busier timetable though which is actually the reason I bought the 380 in the first place. But I’ve noticed it happen also on so many other routes which doesn't use as much variety in stock. I also don’t want to keep messing about uninstalling and reinstalling addons constantly
Class 47 derails immediately upon starting at Glasgow "1Z97 Mossend Up Recp to Bo'ness (part 2). Tried different 47's and never starts, just immediately derails.
I noticed this on the 314 doing an ACW run on the circle, early into the run but I can't remember the station, going under the tunnel/ bridge and the cab becomes incredibly bright. Only occurred once on that run though.
For me it pretty much happens on all of the “shorter” tunnels, regardless of direction or times I’ve driven through that section. The longer tunnel on the Newton line has no issues it’s just the shorter ones.
That is the Mandela affect (Or a bug), I think in real life there's no AWS as well due to the signalling (Someone who works for the Railway will be able to explain it better lol)
Is there a way to remove the 2014 timetable? Or at least have it as an option. The new timetable is incredible and the route really feels alive, trains coming in from all directions. I ran 2P02 from Glasgow Central to Newton and had a simultaneous arrival into Newton with a 314. Absolutely fantastic. Also I love the random "worn down" TPWS alarm that sounds like it's got a flat battery. A great touch.
Yes, it would be nice to be able to at least exclude older timetables from the "Quick Drive" option, when there's clearly a better option available.
Overall though, really enjoying it so far, great to see an older route get some love, some extra layers and a great timetable.
Ahhh I wondered about this! I spawned at Newton at 5pm to see what it was like and it was completely dead. I hope it gets fixed, I do like to spawn in free roam.
This was always one of my top UK routes, but we really have had a new lease of life given to it. Nice to see the improvements to the 314, I’m sure the motors are louder! Don’t know if it’s something that can be fixed? But there’s a missing AWS magnet after Cathcart North Junction on the approach to Cathcart in the Neilston direction, it was missing previously too. Is this something that can be added in easily? Apart from that, I absolutely love this route. It’s a proper network, plenty of gameplay opportunities, fantastic timetable. 9/10 without a doubt. These remasters are really good, and I’m hope that if DTG had time they would visit some older routes too.
Loving this remaster, what a difference, especially with the 380 timetable! Slight issue, did an 8am January service and the station lighting had already switched off so everything looked very dark...
3 ISSUES WITH CATHCART AFTER UPGRADE (Xbox series S) . when spawning on foot in new timetable it puts you in the old timetable . Frequent really annoying game crashes at Glasgow Central which close the game entirely, especially when approaching the station at the end of a service . Class 314 destination blind still blurry after all this time DTG PLEASE SORT THIS OUT IT'S RIDICULOUS
So I've been playing around with the 380 on the new timetable, done a few runs in the 314 too and here's the issues I've found after playing for a few hours. For reference, I'm on PC playing the steam version of the game. *Passengers are very buggy. I done a few runs last night with the 314 and 380, only to find stations completely empty! Passengers were not spawning on some runs and those that did would get stuck in the platform, trespass onto the tracks or fly away. Can we PLEASE get a fix for passengers?! They've been really buggy across multiple routes, not just this one. *The 314: Maybe it's just me, but the 314 sounds worse than how it did when it was released. The traction motors are far too quiet until you get up to speed (around 15-20mph). There was also an internal rumble in the passenger saloon and driving cab that's just not there anymore, why was this taken out? I've also had issues with the 314's Spirax valve ticking able to be heard unmuffled from other trains. GSMR is also bugged on the 314. It makes no noise whatsoever when pressing anything and the module itself is dead silent. The headcode is also not displayed automatically like it does on the 380. All in all despite what I've wrote above, I'm quite chuffed with the remaster. The route is busy, Glasgow Central looks spectacular with the amount of trains in at once and the addition of the 380 makes the rail scene look miles better! Love the upgrade, love the 380. As a Glaswegian myself, I couldn't stop grinning on the approach to Glasgow Central last night with how good the railscene looks now. I just hope the issues mentioned above are sorted out.
Never seen that before the remaster update, it appears the “bad passengers behavior” infected this line as well:
I wonder what happens when ScotRail see this... my oh my. No discipline on scottish rail stations ey? Well at least they don't smoke! (Hope they're not glued to the rails ) Will this lead to a statement of distancing themselves from the imagery depicted in this game? Another license lost? Stay tuned.
I would hope they would just pressure DTG to fix the bug, rather than revoking the licence all together. It's a core problem across so many routes that just must be fixed!
Well if they can't fix it at least give them safety vests and a helmet. Or implement a station supervisor game mode, running around and chasing them, collecting fines. (GTA style mini game idea?) Warning! The Train Sim World is a dangerous fictional place! Do not try this at your local railway! Edit: The situation is being taken care of.
Playing on Series X - can also report that spawning on foot throws you into the old timetable. Onboard PIS displays on the 380 also don't appear to work in some carriages. Would also love the option to manually change the destination, otherwise so far so good!
Started a run this morning with the 380 and lo and behold, look what just backed into Glasgow Central.
Also to add, really enjoying the new timetable. Did service 2M79 Newton to Glasgow Central. Started in the layover yard, ala Harlem line.
PS5 Cathcart circle 'press release,' scenario, when pulling into Glasgow Central on the final run several passengers on the tracks. Tried to upload photo but it failed.
Enjoyed the Western rail tour service which went down the single track branch, a very nice surprise inclusion. Think that section was only ever drivable in a scenario on the original version.
DTG seem quite hopeless when it comes to fixing the people on tracks issue. Goblin line had the same problem on release and AFAIK still exists. Seems the only way to get them to sort it is for the real operators and Network Rail to read the riot act. This game is played by many actual and retired railway people and it’s a fair bet most have at some point been involved directly or indirectly with a fatality. It should not even be something DTG need to think about as regards priorities for fixing. Just get it sorted.
It looks like I've found a couple of bugs. On the 2N16 to Neilston there's a train stuck at Pollokshields East, not only that but the distant signal on approach to the red signal guarding the station shows a green signal to the left. If the signal into Pollokshields East is green then the distant signal shows two greens. Is my understanding of splitting distant signals wrong or is this a bug? EDIT: Added screenshots.
