Wild speculation of course, but an interesting achievement. You will never get to 70 on the Cathcart Circle. Max on the inner and outer circle is only 40 in places, if I remember rightly. The Neilston & Newton branches are max speed 50/55 in places.

Sometimes you’ve gotta break the rules.

Or take the 314 over the specialist testing ground in France…otherwise known as the LGV, the 314 is perfectly suited to it, it has 25kv AC OLE and everything.

This line is akin to a German S-Bahn route (albeit a lot shorter) the distance between stops isn’t very far, so the 30-50mph speed will feel quite fast, since it’s all stop-start.

Think of this line as light rail as opposed to mainline commuter rail.

Does the br class 314 have any express runs where it skips stations maximizing the chance to get to 70mph?

No I pretty sure the circle has a 40 mph speed limit all the way round

No, if you take just Glasgow to Cathcart, the journey time is around 12-15 minutes, so there isn’t a need for express services.

Out to Neilston is about 30 mins from Glasgow.

Nope, max speed is 55mph on the Neilston branch (if it’s included) Cathcart circle itself is 40 but with curves and many crossovers 20-30 in places.

Pre-Covid there were some Class 1 services that skipped stations.

Think of Bakerloo, but all in the open and a bit shorter - that should give you a feel of what kind of route this'll be.

    My thoughts exactly.
Wishfull thinking i know, but hopefully this means we will get another section of line included.
Perhaps the WCML from Glasgow central to Newton as well as the Cathcart Circle and branches. :)

Cathcart Speed.png There is a 75mph speed limit not too far from Central Station, I'm not sure if it is past the junction's for Cathcart, I don't think it is a line Cathcart trains use. Someone might be able to work something out from this. It's a great video, well worth a watch and subscribing, other great videos as well.
    Video below

That is after Cathcart branches off. The CCL branches off at about 3:30, the line past the yellow signal on the right is the CCL and Glasgow & South Western to Carlisle.

The only circumstance that 75 limit would be in is if they included Polmadie Depot, or it goes all the way to Newton and they (for some reason) modelled the WCML between Glasgow and Newton.

It makes me think this route was decided by one person in a spur of the moment thing and everyone else went along with it considering the almost exactly similar and, long delayed, Class 313 for ECW is finally about to release. Don't get me wrong, Cathcart might be a great little route if it's busy and variable services so I'm eager for it, although it's short length and lack of any info makes me think it's been created for another reason...

Achievements, trophies and whatnot aren’t really concerned with operating the trains properly. They are a gaming thing and don’t rely on prototypical behaviour. You can splutter your way through one service and if you reach the end, you get your prize. You get one for turning up. This is why I think they are utterly pointless. I find it hard to believe you’ll be able to get up to 70mph in the one mile section of the route they are including (continuing the farce of people thinking we are only getting a small section of it).

I see DTG are still doing their usual 'lets only show this off a couple of weeks before it releases so when people spot errors or bugs we can just say it's too late to change anything' again. Been in upcoming for over two weeks now which means production is finished and yet still no pictures.

Not only that but also simple stuff like route length or a station list both of which should be know by now and released by now.I highly suspect this is a short route and people here tend to react negativity to short routes.I myself can live with a short route if done well.

I really dislike how late they leave to show screenshots off. This means that if there are any glaring issues within the screenshots, it would be too late to amend anything.

I find it a little unsettling that we have not seen any screenshots or any additional info from what’s on the roadmap regarding Cathcart Circle. Considering we got the announcement for Rush Hour with details and some questionable screenshots from all three routes, it does seem like DTG is avoiding talking about Cathcart and the 313 despite both being in the upcoming section and obviously releasing before Rush Hour.

I get that with recent events they want to make sure it's all ready but we should have seen something by now as it's already in testing and we don't even know the route length.

The screenshots for Rush Hour are just placeholders taken on existing routes and DLCs - the closest we've had to pictures of the actual content is the commissioned artwork.

I would like to point out - Clinchfield was in "Upcoming" for 2 roadmaps* before an article landed concerning the route with in progress screenshots of it (there was the building the F7 article which was specifically for Clinchfield, and that only showed the loco, and it was not in the game).
    * It may have even been 3 roadmaps, had one released on 9th February.

However, Southeastern, LGV were on for 1 roadmap and Munich had actually moved into next arrival before the article landed, having spent the previous roadmap in upcoming.

What I'm saying is that it's not unheard of for a route to be in upcoming for multiple roadmaps (Cathcart's been in for 2 currently) before they publish an article on it, or even speak about it (did we know which branches Clinchfield would include before the article?).

In most cases, texturing and painting the 3D models is finished very late in production; at this stage a "screenshot" would likely not show anything but grey wireframes.

I'd hope that Cathcart is a bit more than grey wireframes at this stage with release likely within the next month.

How long does it take DTG to create a route? Given we were told about Cathcart around 2 months ago(?) and contrary to what we're always told, have they been working on it before it was dropped on to the road map? Concerns of a rush job really are starting to worry me.

Yeah the first time we seen it was in February on the roadmap, also what’s even worse is in streams they have said that this is one of the first times they have put it on the roadmap later than usual

Typically a route add-on takes them 6 months, and given it went straight into "in production" it'll have been worked on before we knew about it.

Yeah I thought so, which is why the “if it’s not on the roadmap we’re not working on it” mantra is incorrect.

That is somewhat true but it depends on a certain route that is being asked

I don’t see what comments above in nearly every thread add to anything, it’s pointless, repetitive and boring.

If things are that bad, you know what to do!

If you think it’s going to be rushed and released in such a bad state, and made your mind up without even seeing a single screenshot, then I wouldn’t concern myself with the notion of being remotely interested in it.

It was the comment above yours I was referring to, adds nothing to the discussion whatsoever.

In fact, I’m quite invested in this thread, as I’m looking forward to Cathcart Circle.

If people did not complain about things being in the roadmap too long in the past we would have had the complete roadmap today. It seems people wants to keep complaining about it until they remove it all until it is 2 weeks away from release.

I read on a TSW youtuber video that the 313 was coming out on the 27th may and Cathcart on the 4th June, going by the latest roadmap perhaps Cathcart is coming first so I don't know how accurate that is.

Personally I am more inclined to get the 313 and see what others say about Cathcart then pick it up in a sale if it is worth bothering with.

I don't know where they got their information from (I'm not saying their wrong or correct) but Sam said in last Tuesdays roadmap that Cathcart will be first followed by Cane Creek with the 313 after that. Do you have a link to this YouTubers video it would be quite interesting to watch :)
