I have been looking through WonterRail's timetables lately, combined with the 'epic services' thread and it got me thinking.. With the obvious exceptions of Island Line & ECW Seaford & Lewes services, does anyone know any services that can be chained together utilising the same loco (without changing or going off map) with a minimum of at least 3 back-to-back services? Example: Train U877 on SPG: Cumberland to Shaw Mine Shaw Mine to Salisbury Loop Salisbury Loop to Cumberland
Southeastern Highspeed has a few Jevelin runs you stick in the same unit for, just look for services ending at Faversham. London Commuter probably has the most, any of the GX services will be the same, along with the Southern services to Reigate & Brighton. Dresden - Chemnitz has S-Bahn services which are self contained too. West Cornwall local has the 150 shuttle runs, St Erth to St Ives & Penzance to St Austell stoppers. These are just a few off the top of my head, TSW is surprisingly full of services you can run back & forth as a ‘shift’.
I don’t have it, but Glossop should allow this too? WSR would be another one that I imagine must do this (again, not in my collection so just guessing).
Cathcart and Glasgow to Edinburgh should do. Most of the class 101 services on NTP should allow this.
Cane Creek has some head down to the mine, then load and back. Not strictly the same loco as you change to the other loco tied to the original. But it's the same consist. Clinchfield has 4 full services patterns which can be chained together, each with upwards of 10 individual services.
Be careful with passenger services and chaining on TSW3 routes. On the return runs the doors usually open on the wrong side of the train.
I think the really old TSW2020 has chained services, because they didn't had off the map locations. I know for sure that Main Spessart Bahn has this.
Also be aware that as soon as you save your game and come off, it will probably not restore the objective data for a subsequent trip you are making, thus ending the run.
Not all of them, SPG has trains going off-map, GWE as well. Even MSB has freight trains leaving the map, I think only passenger trains are self-contained within the map.
I think there's a 101 or two that just shuttle between Darlo and Middlesbrough on Tees Valley. There's also the Redcar ore trains you take in, load (or unload can't remember) then take back out.
