I hope you’re all doing well. I am a huge fan of Train Sim World and really appreciate the incredible detail and realism dovetail bring to railway simulation. The variety of routes available is fantastic, but I wanted to reach out with a suggestion that I believe many players would love to see.

Could dovetail consider adding an Irish railway route to Train Sim World? Ireland has some stunning and unique railway lines that would be a great addition to the game. Routes such as the Dublin-Cork mainline, the scenic Dublin-Rosslare coastal route, or even the iconic Belfast-Dublin Enterprise service could provide a fresh and exciting experience for players. The Irish rail network has a distinct character, from its rolling stock to its landscapes, and it would be fantastic to see it brought to life in the game.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this suggestion and whether an Irish route might be a possibility in a future update or DLC.

It would certainly break the cycle of UK commuter routes.

While my preference would be for something classic loco hauled, the modern era probably offers a slightly higher service level. Always the issue with Ireland and the more far flung lines, unless you do something like Belfast to Dublin, or Dublin to Cork then you are not going to have a busy timetable.

Probably best not to raise expectations too high though. TSC saw no commercial routes for Ireland - north or south - and MSTS only saw a couple.

I know, if it’s too long for them to make the Dublin cork mainline I was thinking the DART route from Greystones-dublin-Howth/malahide.

Also it would be great for a paddy’s day release. (I know they wouldn’t be able to make it in such a short time but in the coming years for paddy’s day).

I am surprised that there is a welch route coming to TSW, I would never have thought a welch route would be done, but I am really glad it is because it is adding more variety to the TSW world. To go a bit more west and do an Irish route would be a nice bolt on to the UK line up. However, is there a need for an Irish rail route/DLC and does it warrant the work? If you read Matt's pinned comment on how to suggest a route, it is anything but straight forward. Basically you need to have a whole load of information on Irish rail, what routes are unique, what will make a suggested route fun, nice views and long distances doesn't count etc. Read Matt's pinned post for yourself. If you are serious, do your research then come back with ideas, St Patrick day launch is a nice idea, but you need a well thought out DLC to launch.

I am thinking Isle of Wright DLC small operations type of railway, yes I am sure Dublin would have to be the first port of call for an Irish route. I google their rolling stock and it is old stuff 1996 / 2005, so maybe that might be something modern, but not modern?

For a first Irish Route, I'd probably go for Malahide/Howth - Greystones (DART) with CIE Class 8100 & 8500 or Dublin Heuston - Portlaoise (50 miles) with the 22000 Class & 201 Class + Mk4s.
