Is there any way to change the default tab when you load TS away from Career? Can’t see any option in settings....

I’m sure there isn’t, but I wish there was!!

Cheers. Seems odd consider most would start with QD or Standard scenarios...

Career Scenarios come with every DTG route
If the game was to start on Standard the Newbies would not see any scenarios and would be complaining their system was broke

It is only one click to another tab.

I think there is a use for QD: for newcomers, it enables you to familiarise yourself with the way TS works, and a way just to explore.

Plus many QD "scenarios" have lots of AI traffic these days. JT Newcastle to Edinburgh springs to mind.

It should default to standard IMO. Career scenarios annoy me... you end up "playing" to get a "score", and you just end up driving in a totally unrealistic way, especially if you know the route well and don't need the HUD. You can be 2 or 3mph out on the analogue gauge on the train and not know you've been speeding until you finish and get informed that you were. Real train drivers don't have a HUD. I always try to learn a route, especially the shorter ones.

Yes a good solution, pookey. I’ve had a go at a few standard scenarios, the short ones, as it’s hard to get 45-60 mins uninterrupted. I think I tried a career one, had to deal with something, then found I’d lost 4000 points for speeding and all sorts of transgressions.

I had a terrible time with applying the brakes, dragging the lever seemed to send it in all sorts of directions that I didn’t want, then I just discovered last night, when you pick up the brake handle, you don’t move your mouse in a circle to follow the path of the handle, but up and down on the screen.

Use the keys... trying to actually drag the controls with your mouse pointer is not a great way to do it. Keys every time.

Was trying to make it as realistic as possible, when in the cab moving mouse up and down seems to work ok now

Yeah I sometime play with levers alone, of course it's easier for me because my drivers not in a neck brace and duct taped to the seat (in other words I have TrackIR :P ) you soon learn that you don't follow the natural direction of the said lever.

The most unrealistic way of driving for me (in any sim) is with the KB but again it's all down to personal preference I suppose.

It's a computer game at the end of the day. Use a large screen.. sit close... and once you know where the keys are without looking (which any gamer will already have as a skill), you'll not even be aware of what key you are pressing... or even that you are pressing it.. especially with track IR... which I keep promising myself... then really annoying unimportant things keep cropping up... like cars needing tyres, or boiler servicing :(

That’s interesting: at moment I’m having to make do with the poor man’s version, the right mouse click and drag.

what do you do with TrackIR if you want to have an outside view, does pressing 2 escape the cab view?

Again the problem in the newbies who get the game, switch it on to play something and they are on Standard but they have No Scenarios to play so they then try to find help and post on a Forum like his saying "my game is broke - I cannot drive anything" because they don't know any difference.

You still see it today where somebody who has just played Career Scenario buys a new add on and because it only has Standard Scenarios don't know how to find it.

It it really too much hard work for people to just click on the tab for QD or Standard?

Much ado about nothing. As Peter says, is it too difficult to press a tab button?

When you go to any external view you're back to controlling with the mouse as you are doing now, TrackIR is set up to cab and head out window views only (possibly passenger view too but can't rightly remember off the top of my head) once you return to the cab it's back to being controlled by the TrackIR.

You can lock (pause) the TrackIR with a keybind and it will lock in whatever position you want, you also have a centre (reset) keybind that centres the view to that which is set up per cab and FOV settings.

Also note you don't just move left/right/up/down with it, it's six axis, meaning you can tilt your head left/right and also lean forward/back too.
