How do I change ends with class 66. Tried everything but couldn't get it to move.

Any advice or tips would be fab.

Did you fully shut down the cab you came from (throttle 0, reverser neutral, reverser handle out)
And then fully set up the cab you moved into (reverser handle in, reverser forward, turn on the 4 switches on the same console as reverse (engine run etc.)
Are the brakes set to cut in on the Electronic panel above the windscreen?

I don't think you can change ends in the Class 66. You can't take the reverser handle out once it has been inserted.

You can. You just kind of click above the bit where the handle meets the module if that makes sense - I'm not very good at explaining, but you definitely can take out the reverser handle on the class 66s I've driven.

Remember that the AWS and DSD switches are in the No.1 Cab cabinet.

Unlike a lot of other UK locos, there is no way to activate safety systems in the No. 2 cab.

Oh yes. This bit I realised only last minute lol. I wonder why that is with the 66

I didn't even realise you could take the handle out. How do I go about this?

Do you have to cut out the brakes also before changing cabs or not?

Not entirely sure tbh. I don't remember ever doing this, but it may be required. I don't drive the 66 much tbh. I might try changing ends to check if it possible, but I won't be on the game for a few days because of work unfortunately.

I will try taking the handle out. It's fiddly as it is. Been trying to branch out and get more into cargo to widen my horizons as it were.

You do not need to cut out the brakes to change ends in the Class 66 (Not sure how the ECML and WCML 66s behave, but the rest work this way). You do need to cut out the brakes if you are changing to a different 66 entirely that is in the same consist.

To change ends, simply set the power handle to 0, the reverser to neutral, remove the reverser handle, then walk to the other end and insert the reverser handle, set it to forwards, acknowledge AWS if it is not isolated, and release the automatic brake.

It is necessary to remove the reverser handle from the inactive cab (not sure how the WCML 66 behaves regarding this). You can click on it as mentioned above, or use whatever button toggles the master key (Ctrl + W on keyboard) to do this. Having two reverser handles inserted in a 66 is akin to having two master keys active in an Electrostar.

Ensure the locomotive brake is released for both cabs. Applying it in any cab will cause the brakes to stick.

I gave it a go with the WCML 66 on ECML on foot on an unused diesel platform at PBO. Didn’t need to do anything on the screens. I removed the reverser handle, and imagine this is what is causing you problems - with it being left in.

Them screens I am curious about lol. It doesn't go into any detail in any tutorial (of which there are bloody numerous ones ha). All I have taken away is make sure brakes are cut in.)

Don't know about the other stuff
