I am on PS4 today, and frankly speaking, I am using it without no mayor issues. I know I have some less features, like shorter trains - mainly US very long ones -, an performance will be better on PS5.. But PS5 can not handle all the routes directly, as you have like a previous "step",age, where you have all the routes you bought, but only some of them can be used directly, so you have to manage that.. Please comment about your experience about it, and help me to decide to change or not. I will appreciate it. Thank you very much in advance!
a PS5 would be worth it. I myself can't be the judge of that as I barely even use my PS4 anymore (and by that don't even own a PS5) but someone else I saw on the forums if I recall it correctly said that the PS5 runs the game much better and smoothlier. so I think it's worth it.
There're several report threads about this. Just one example: I Just Switched From Ps4 To Ps5… Oh My God! Me? Totally, utterly, absolutely! If your budget permits, go for it. You'll never look back (but I keep my old PS4 for other games).
Absolutely yes! I switch over earlier this year and I noticed the increase in quality immediately, much better textures, volumetric fog, higher definition clouds and much better fps to name a few improvements. Now, I didn’t reinstall all my DLC to save space so I can’t comment on the aspect of the PS5 but what I can say is if you bring over DLC you know you’ll play it’ll be worth it. Edit: I should also add that 1 unfortunate trade of for this improvement is your progress won’t carry over, you’ll have to start from scratch
If it wasn’t for the roughly £1000 set back (plus whatever else extra I would get) to get where I am with Xbox on PS, I would probably do it until the main Xbox issues are resolved, personally would stay Xbox but PS having a noticeable jump away from Xbox issues is very appealing.
Ok and thanks.. really thinking about doing it. Just tired of Xbox being ignored and having stupid fixable bugs taking forever.
I don’t know where you get this idea from but the issue of not having all your collection available at once was fixed a long time ago. There is nothing to manage now.
Just remember that upgrading your console won't fix broken scenarios, random derailments and other core TSW4 issues. Personally, I play on a £150 XBOX Series S, and don't see the point in dropping £400 on a new console just for TSW4, unless there are other PS5 games that you really want to play. Try and shop around for a good PS5 discount, or wait until Black Friday or some other sale before jumping if you are serious about upgrading just to play TSW4. Though at the end of the day, it's your money, and not for me to tell you how to spend it.
Short Answer- Yes Long Answer- The first thing you'll notice is 4K textures running at around 60FPS although it depends on the route and how many trains are present. Loading times should be faster although it will still take a while to boot up the game if you own a lot of routes (I own about 50 routes and it takes around 2 minutes to launch the game) but the general loading times after that are decent. You'll gain access to many more layers on certain routes like on BML, the haptic feedback on the dualsense controller is also really good you can feel vibrations on the controller when you accelerate and brake and it really adds to the immersion. Finally you'll have better clouds and volumetric fog which makes the game look way better. Overall I would definitely recommend it.
I recently upgraded to a series x from x box 1 and it was worth it TSW 3 and 4 both smoother and crisper on the series xim playing TSW more again since . Either way series x or PS 5 which ever its worth the upgrade . I went with the X cause my TSW 3 and 4 data can be re downloaded to my X ..I want to get a PS5 next both are good systems .Also if anyone wants to wait both sony and Microsoft planning up graded X and PS5 s maybe later on this year
a Also if you can or want to do a trade ..I traded in my old x box 1 and some other game stuff for store credit got 200.00 to put twd my series X . Here where I am in US with sales tax it was 530.00 but after store credit for my trade items 330.00
As foreposters have already stated: Since the event of the addon manager there's no 64Gb limit anymore. You can have all of your routes installed. You just will have to download the PS5 versions of your DLCs and set them up. And BTW: PS4 had a limit of 50 DLCs as well, IIRC. What you can´t take with you though is your PS4 TSW profile. That can't be transferred to PS5. I didn´t miss it, because I wanted to drive all the routes again since they appear completely new anyway. All layers and traffic, full train lengths, much improved far distance asset building and shadows. Apart from the 4k experience which is a jump on its own. So, if you can live without your old profile, don't think twice.
To not have an outdated machine soon, it's probably better to wait for PS5 Pro in autumn if you wanna make the jump.
In any case, switching to better hardware is always worth it. More graphics performance does not automatically mean more power consumption, as the chips are built to be more compressed and efficient with each generation. Currently you even get 1TB of SSD storage with the PS5 Slim. There are also a lot of PS5s in circulation at the moment, so there are regular discount promotions and bargains. There are now officially confirmed rumors that Sony could release a PS5 Pro at the end of the year, as corresponding dev kits are already said to be in circulation at some development studios. The clock frequency of the 8 Zen-2 cores should be increased from 3.5 to 4.4 GHz, which, like the PS4 Pro, will almost double the performance. Since GTA6 from Rockstar is planned for a 2025 release and will initially appear exclusively on consoles , the graphics power of the PS5 Pro should be fully utilized. But let's see what happens between now and then. In any case, a change is worth it now, more than ever.
You don’t. That’s been fixed a long time ago. The upgrade is worth it. Totally, absolutely with no doubt whatsoever.
It is worthy, even my wife could notice that something happened to the game and asked me why it looked better, On top you are getting all the extra layers.
Ahhh... Ok. I read about that issue some years ago, but do not know it was fixed now. Thanks for the confirmation! Regards
Thank you all very much, for your comments about this issue!. It helps me to make a decision. Really appreciate it! Best regards
I guess, being both PS4 and PS5 being from the same company, if I change to PS5, I guess..., I can download all the DLC I bought to PS4, again to the PS5, but for free now. Please confirm... Thanks.
you can check the settings on your PS4 if there's an option to transfer data, or just google it yourself
Yes. Your purchases are tied to the Playstation store itself, not just to the PS4. If you bought a DLC for TSW on PS4 you will also own the PS5 version so it will show up as free on the store. (at least thats how it SHOULD work so if it doesn't contact DTG support)
It is like it works and for some DLCs that I had issues the support from DTG was brilliant. No complains on that regards.
Totally worth it. I came from a PS4 Pro and it was a noticeable upgrade. All my previous TSW purchases have transferred between versions and platforms without any trouble. The only time you may run into issues is if your DLC are linked to a special edition on disc and you get a digital-only PS5.
Yes, you can, confirmed. You *could* even play the PS4 version on your new PS5, if that makes sense to you. Some people do exactly that because they value game performance over anything. Of course, without the rather significant improvements mentioned above ........ for which you already paid for but couldn't enjoy. The playstore, in many cases, will start a queue to download *both* versions. If you don't want the PS4 version just make sure you cancel it from the queue. It would be a waste of time and would clutter your storage (which isn't that generous on the basic PS5 - just 625Gb - unless you replace the native SSD with up to 2Tb or connect an external SSD). There're indeed rumours that Sony is about to launch a PS5 Pro version in autumn. IMHO you can approach this from different angles: 1. You wait for it and go for brandnew. That shouldn't be cheap though. Pricing is not confirmed yet AFAIK. 2. You wait for a price tag and consider the possibility that now the price tag for the "basic" version will spiral downwards. Which I suspect it will, but no guarantees. 3. You go for used equipment and later replace it with the PRO version. 4. ...........................errmm, I can't think of any fourth. Let's face it: PS4 is on its knees when it comes to handle that badly optimized piece of software called TSW. So, whatever you decide, the jump to PS5 is already nothing short of a quantum leap. Enjoy it and have fun!
I made the jump last December especially for TSW. The most recent route I bought technically did run on PS4, but I could no longer make out the route signs I had to place on stations because they were so low-res... I looked at YouTube videos of PS5 gameplay and saw what I was missing out on. Since PS5 is essentially backwards compatible with PS4, I realised I had no reason not to upgrade. Besides the graphics, the biggest improvement for me were the loading times. With all the DLC I have installed the game still takes a while to boot up, although not as bad as it was on PS4, but subsequently selecting a route from the menu and jumping in is much, much quicker. And yes you must then download PS5 versions of all your DLC, but you can do so for free.
Going from ps4 to ps5 the biggest improvement for me was load times. I can't believe how much quicker game loads both to menu and to actual play.
The visual quality improvement from the PS4 is massive. Compared to the Xbox Series X, the PS5 is slightly better visually, but loses out on smoothness on heavier routes, however the Xbox audio is awful so let’s call it 1-1. My advice, wait a few months for the PS5 Pro which should brute force the standard PS5 frame choppiness for the ultimate TSW4 console experience.
There could be some sales on gen 9 esp with upgraded systems sony and Microsoft planning later this year . I was at Target store here in US yest they had the series x on sale for 449.00
I have all the disc on PS4 and raised a ticket with DTG. They provided me with codes to download the PS5 version from the store
