General Information 30 Stations in Total Approx 80 miles in total Not Electrified Services run by class 168 & 165 DMUs Route Map: HIGHLIGHTED AREAS ONLY LINES: Marylebone - Oxford (STOPPING 1hr 20) (SEMI-FAST 1hr) Marylebone - Aylesbury Vale parkway (1hr 10) Marylebone- Aylesbury (1hr) Marylebone - High Wycombe (50mins) Rolling Stock Class 165 Chiltern Turbos Class 165s are used mainly on the stopping services to High Wycombe and the Aylesbury's Class 168/0 Clubman Class 168/0s are used on the Aylesbury lines plus Semi-Fast and Stopping services to Oxford. Overall, I think that the Chiltern Lines would be a great addition to train sim world as it features the unique un electrified railway which runs into central London and two completely different DMUs. Thank you for reading my suggestion.
This would be great to see in game. Plus, with EWR opening some time this year, DTG could always reuse Oxford as well as Milton Keynes and Bletchley from WCMLS
Very unlikely to get the entire network. Marylebone to Aylesbury via either route about the best you could hope for. The route would also need a minimum of three new trains to be viable - 165, 168 and S stock for the parallel Met Line, whereas most routes these days come with one new trains to be if you’re lucky.
I think this would be the best option as I mentioned in another post regarding underground subsurface routes you could combine this line with two underground lines the Met line + Jubilee line, similar to how underground is used on the WCML. For the underground part starting the line from Finchley Road (running ai back and forth from the tunnels) with services to Wembley Park, thus ending drivable Jubilee services (ai for the turn off towards Stanmore and back), swapping over to Met services to end of the line stops at Amersham, Chesham + Watford.. (and maybe Uxbridge with Piccadilly ai services), while Chiltern Railways 165s and 168s services run up and down from Marylebone - Aylesbury in the countryside.. Not an entire line but probably a lot more achievable for Devs as the entire track is not all dense suburbs and gives everyone 3 line options for timetable, Plus ops from Neasden Depot and a couple of sidings along the way, then the Chiltern sidings just before Aylesbury (could even allow for one of the freighters to pull broken down Chiltern rolling stock like the other DLC) while already rolling stock in game for WCML and Mildmay underpasses
Of course the train requirement could be reduced by setting back in BR Classic area, with a Class 115 DMU. Some fudging of the physics and sound needed as these had none standard Leyland Albion 230hp engines albeit still with mechanical transmission. Then a set of A60 stock to represent the Met Line with the existing 1972 tube stock covering the Jubilee (formerly Bakerloo) services.
I think that London - Aylesbury and Oxford is viable, there are a good amount of things to do and just having the Aylesbury line could get a bit boring just driving back and forth. The class 165 and 168 are really the only drivable trains needed and the S8 stock for the met could be layered In as an AI route with an AI train (possibly a S8 model) like what was done on the Mildmay line route with the DLR.
Not to those stations themselves, but services that do share tracks with the Class 68. So its still a viable option.
