Finally we have a first release date for the game, it’ll be early access on Steam first. Let’s hope the final version won’t be disappointing.
Hey everyone, We just published the very first CTS Roadmap! We talk about why we went with Early Access and what kind of updates and additional features you can expect during the EA phase! Highlights include: ULF A1 Quick Play Postcards Collectible Junction Tutorial & Updated First Time Experience Updated Manuals Updated Character Selection Screen & Titles Ambient Sound improvements AI traffic improvements Read all about it here: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2604480/view/4183360268350232608 (There is also a German version, the Steam client should take you directly to it if your client is set to German)
Has the EA price been determined yet? Will this product get a proper sub forum in the same way as Fishing or catan?
keeping an eye on it. I enjoyed Tramsim Vienna despite it's flaws. I was in Vienna this month and riding a tram felt very familiar
Vienna as a city is a transport enthusiast's wet dream kinda ... very well done, constantly improving and awaiting major expansions in coming years... and it is all integrated together so well trams are like... everywhere, but Badner Bahn has a special place for me
Please tell me this is not using Unreal Engine 4. A new franchise in 2024 should be on UE5 or another modern game engine.
too bad it is a fictional city, even though I can imagine depicting a real city like Vienna can be a nightmare
Being fictional, it’s a big NO from me. There are no British based tram simulators out there so this is a missed opportunity to model Croydon, Sheffield, Edinburgh or Manchester (or anywhere else that has trams). This sim seems to be a fictionalised version of a German or Austrian city but we already have Vienna and Munich in TramSim so why would we want a fictional one. Something different would have been better.
I still maintain a well done Blackpool Tramway, set back in the heritage era with largely trolley pole operation would sell like a hot cake.
Thats more youre own perspective i guess.... I do not believe there is a large group of people they have interest in this kind of trams. Its the same in TSW modern stuff is way more popular.
Blackpool looks quite nice as far as old trams are concerned. I'd like to see that properly done in a simulator. Light rail isn't really my cup of tea but old electrics certainly are
For the record this game will not have real routes! Its selling point is the fictional city and not a realistic route. They have already confirmed that a real route will not come. They have chosen this fictional city with a reason.... the have more freedom to make what they want.
Yes we know that. Just ruminating on what might be nice. And a fictional coastal tram road in the style of Blackpool, or maybe even the fascinating one that runs along the Belgian coast, would still be great to drive.
Fictional routes do nothing for me. I like to have some sort of connection to the route I’m driving whether that be a train/tram I’ve travelled on or a route for a place I’ve been to. So at the moment I’m not really interested, unless it offers something new that’s not been seen before. I agree, Blackpool would be amazing. Not so sure how well it would sell, but I would certainly enjoy it. It would bring back a lot of memories. Would also love to see Zürich (so I can drive myself home from work!). Or Berlin would also be good. But fictional, no, no attachment to draw me in. Not ruling out getting this, but it’s pretty low down my list at the moment.
I’m not interested in the type of gameplay where you start off with one tram and then have to build up your fleet and manage all aspects of the network, having to create your own timetables etc. If it has to be played like that and not have fully filled out set timetables and routes then it isn’t the kind of game I want. I’m only interested in the driving aspect of trains or trams.
You're able to play different game modes, the one you described is Career Mode. But you'll also be able to try Quickplay Mode or Sandbox Mode, where everything is unlocked and you can drive trams to your heart's content. If you want to learn more about CTS take a look at ViewApp's "Pic Of The Week", where they share a lot of information on the different aspects of the game, including Tramau's history, the trams and more. I'm also currently setting up the dedicated forum section for CTS: Tram, adding all of the Pic Of The Week Articles. This will most likely not be done by the end of the day, but you can expect to see this new forum section first thing on Monday morning
Somewhat related, one of my favorite routes in TSC is G-Trax's Sacramento Northern interurban route. The interurbans represented one of the great eras in American railroad history. The only one I know that still operates is the South Shore between Chicago and South Bend, Indiana. Trams, streetcars, interurbans and trolley buses, I'm old enough to have ridden on all of them. They were fast, quiet, efficient and climate friendly and only disappeared because they were killed off by the oil lobby which persuaded us that gas guzzling, polluting buses were a better option.
Oh yes that is a beautiful route, one I really need to spend more time on. Would also be one for DTG to consider in TSW as a vintage US DLC, given the current hiatus on modern US stuff. Verdict out on CTS, bought Vienna Tram Sim a while back but haven’t spent much time on it. Gaming overload at present, too. Career mode sounds similar to one of the games TML attempted a while back. Based in San Francisco think you started out driving a taxi, then moved on to buses and I don’t think I ever reached the point where you could drive MUNI or one of the cable cars.
That was a nice game back on the days, I really enjoyed it and it was one of the very few where driving a trolleybus was possible.
That’s the one! Don’t think I have the disc anymore but yes trolleybuses were one of the transport forms you could graduate to. Back to CTS, have we a clue how much it’s going to cost. If <£20 for early access, I might be tempted, otherwise probably one to leave for a sale and/or see how the early adopters get on with it.
Being early access it ought to be at an attractive price which we should know tomorrow when the dedicated sub- forum comes online. Coincidentally I also bought Tram Sim and haven't played it much, seemed a bit clunky.
Also there’s early access with a dedicated team behind it and early access, finish it sometime. We have already seen that with SimRail, good as it is, already gone well by the date at which it was supposed to exit EA but at the same time already starting to sell DLC. Then there was that Trans Siberian game, already in development for 4 or 5 years, very rough with the developers openly stating the final product may be years away. I also briefly bought that early access Japanese tram sim, set in Hakodate but the graphics looked like something from the 386 era.
I'm interested and may well jump in to EA. However it's a little strange why, three days before launch, the EA price is still a mystery. " Under €40 " is not helpful.
Hey all, during the Early Access phase, CTS will cost €29,99 / £24,99 / $29,99 You can find a FAQ answering many questions you might have in the announcement section of the CTS forums. All the best, Jan
