I'd love to be able to re-create the period in the 1990s when, due to the unreliability of the 323s in their early years, a collection of elderly EMUs and DMUs were used on Cross City services, fighting a losing battle to keep to the Class 323 timings (a fascinating challenge for the Driver).

Although they appeared less frequently than 116s, 101s were amongst the units used at this time. Please could one of our wonderful modders create a mod which allows us to sub in a 101 on the 323 timings in timetable mode? I'd be happy to make a donation as a thank you for your work.

Thank you very much in advance.

I used to work DMU's over the Cross City in its early years so it would be a nice nostalgia touch to have them on the cross city on TSW

Interesting to hear that, Kev. Were you a Driver or a Guard? What do you think of the TSW route, as someone who’s worked it in real life?

It shouldn’t have been done modern in the first place really!

From a personal point of view I enjoy the 323 so I’m pleased to have it, but setting the route in a transition era would have allowed us to have a variety of stock from the start.

However, the route hasn’t changed too much since electrification, so if someone is able to make a mod which allows us to run the 101, it will be a pretty good representation of the route in the 1990s.

Of course, in an ideal world there would be an accompanying mod similar to those on GWE which does some back-dating of the route itself, but for me the most important step is getting the 101s onto the route in timetable mode.

I was a guard from 1980 to 1982 . I've not picked up the route yet as I've not had a chance to get much playing time in. The fact that a current member of staff was involved with it and the screenshots I've seen seem to be realistic. The diversion via the camp hill line would be a useful add-on for the future given that the route will become passenger-carrying (2024 in theory but I'll believe it when I see it.) when the stations are built.

I’d recommend the route - even if we don’t get a mod to be able to run 101s. The 323 is well recreated, and the route itself is also to a high standard. The only thing I would say is the fact that there’s only one type of traction (apart from a couple of crowbarred in railtours etc) limits it’s replay-ability, so it might be one for a sale (it’s currently £21, which I think is a good price).

    Absolutely superb!

I've just completed a run from Redditch to Litchfield TV. Just about managed to keep time, but really had to work it hard and get the braking points spot on. Great fun.

Thank you, Rob, for taking the time to do this. Is there anywhere I can make a donation (ko-fi or similar?) I couldn't see one on your 'Train Sim Community' profile but I may be missing it.

No need. Glad you're enjoying it. Quite fancy a proper go myself later when I get time.

Ive updated with a 166 alternative now. Comes alongside a TOC cascade decal livery file too instead of running GWR in the Midlands.
