In the October 28 patch notes you had these fixes: I'm yet to see a single change to the 170 on Fife circle, despite being told that the fixes to the 170 on the BCC WMR 170 live stream would be backported to Fife. I, along with other members have asked repeatedly where these fixes are either to be told "we're investigating" with no subsequent feedback, or the posts are completely ignored. So can you please give an update on when the Fife 170 is being fixed and brought up to the same standard as the BCC WMR version?
So lying to and ignoring us. Again. If they're not going to do it then at least tell us. I'd rather be told its not happening than be ignored.
Stop being clever. DTG say they're fixed, then they should be fixed. DTG are responsible here as much as Rivet are.
Looks like it's been ignored again to the surprise of no-one at all. Someone from the community team has taken the time to read it and move the thread into this subforum but couldn't find the time provide even a courtesy response as to why the patch notes they themselves posted seem to list fixes which don't exist. Day 2 of asking and no reply yet. I'll be trying again daily next week!
Trying again so it might get noticed on Monday and heaven forbid an actual reply. Dear Dovetail, Listed in your patch notes for 28 October posted here: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/train-sim-world-6-game-update-28th-october-2025.94991/ were a number of fixes for the class 170. We're these fixes for the Fife circle 170? If so, could you please check whether these notes are correct or whether the update got released because the Fife circle 170 hasn't seen any improvements? Thank you for reading and eagerly anticipating a response
Sadly there seems to be a trend, when the game is going through a bad patch with copious justified vocal criticism, DTG staff seem to take the huff and go into hiding or maybe retreat to Discord. Even going off on the sick. It’s like they can’t take warranted criticism at all. And as regards Rivet we rarely if ever see any input from them now on the forum. I actually pinged Jasper a couple of times recently over outstanding issues on WCL (the infamous incorrect speed limit on the St Ives branch) and never got an acknowledgement or response.
Those changes were for the WMT (and maybe the XC 170) but as far as I remember, on the stream for the BCC Class 170 DLC, it was said that updated sounds were in the works and would be ported back to this (the WMT 170) and the ScotRail 170. The updated sounds in the works, as far as has been said, are for the/coming with the ECW Class 171 pack. So (happy to be proven wrong) my logic follows that we get new 171 with new sounds, sounds get ported back to previous Class 170's as was said would be done. FWIW the WMT 170 doesn't sound like a mosquito anymore.
Thanks! See, this is the sort of feedback I would have hoped to have seen from dovetail. The patch notes just listed fixes to "BR Class 170" but didn't say at all which version or for which route the fixes were for which is why I was asking. Seeing as the same patch included the new timetable for Fife I thought It might have finally included the fixes for that 170. Even a simple answer from dovetail would have clarified what those notes meant but instead they've completely ignored every question about it and yes, it has left a bad taste in my mouth about continuing to support a product when the developer/publisher can't even be bothered to answer or clarify the most basic questions on their very own forums about the vague patch notes they publish on these forums.
The only problem is, they said the same when the WMR/XC 170 came out, that the sounds would be baxkported. Pretty sure they did. So I'm not holding hope for them coming with the ECW 171.
I remember when initially asked if the Scotrail 170 was going to be updated to be line with the XC and WMR 170s they claimed it was going to be getting the hill start feature... which it already had from the start.
1hr 22minutes in, they talk about sound fixes to the wmr 170 and how the Fife circle 170 will receive all the updates the wmr version had.
I stand (well sit down) corrected, I don't think Dovetail have clarified exactly what's happening and so I have taken a few statements and inferred the rest myself (is that the right word? Assumed maybe?) I really do hope the 171 pack FINALLY fixes the ScotRail 170 as that mosquito sound at ~85 is a real ear killer, not even mentioning that the 170/158 announcements are still broken.. Apologies if I've caused any confusion, but DTG would be able to solve this pretty quick smart if someone on the team could clarify? (I don't know how to tag people)
DTG Harry or DTG Alex, is there any chance we'd be able to get some clarification on what fixes were for what 170 or if the SR 170 is waiting for the SN 171. I don't want to muddy the waters with incorrect information here haha
No apologies needed! The confusion is all caused by Dovetail posting patch notes which don't make sense and then ignoring every post asking what they mean. I originally posted this thread in general discussion and got a notification to say someone at dovetail towers had moved the thread to this forum, so even though they've read it, they still haven't answered. Here's the patch notes which just say "BR Class 170" , I just wanted to know which route and which 170 these fixes apply to given the video linked above and that the same patch also included the extra Fife timetable: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/train-sim-world-6-game-update-28th-october-2025.94991/
