Class 170 for Birmingham Cross City LineThe train: The British Rail Class 170 Turbostar is a British diesel multiple unit (DMU) passenger train built by Adtranz and later Bombardier Transportation at Derby Litchurch Lane Works. Introduced after privatisation, these trains operate regional as well as long-distance services, and to a lesser extent suburban services. A total of 139 units were built, but some were later converted to Class 168 and Class 171 units. These trains are currently in use with West Midlands Trains (formerly London Midland), CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, Transport for Wales Rail, ScotRail and Northern Trains. It replaced the Pacers, Sprinters and Other Desil Legends such as the Class 205, Class 207 and Class 310. Services: Class 170 services go between Birmingham New Street and Bromsgrove before heading out of bounds towards Hereford, Malvern or Worcester. It will be a 2019 working timetable (pre-pandemic) so to have plenty of services. Livery: The Class 170 Would have West Midlands Trains Orange and silver livery as shown here: Scenarios: Turbo Time! Drive this class 170 non stop from Birmingham to Bromsgrove in the fast lane. Knock 'em' down! Drive this Class 170 on a service to Birmingham New Street as far as Barnt Green due to trees that have fallen on the line. Sleepy Service: Drive this 6 car pair of class 170's from Bromsgrove and then uncouple and take one pair back to Bromsgrove as a regular service. Summary: The Class 170 is one of the most used DMU's across the UK. It would provide a bit more variety for the rolling stock on the Cross City Line and would be very fun and interesting to drive. It could layer onto other future routes but the current routes in TSW that the 170 is used in are run by a different rail group/company so would have to be made in a different livery. I would love to see this train in TSW but let me know what you think below↓↓↓.
It could also be featured at Ashford International with the 170 (or 171) that operates runs up to Ashford in the Southern Livery. Overall great idea.
Thanks. But my point was it would require a new livery to layer onto most other routes. It would provide a great opertunity for creators club and content creators though!
Thanks. I just looked at yours for the details on where the trains run between. Don't worry. It's not much and it is all (mostly) in my own words.
Be nice if this came with an extension(dirty word I know) down to Hereford or as a loco for the Chase Valley lines. Either way would definitely be a fan of getting this train into the game. I remember them being brand new on the Edinburgh to Glasgow route.
Yup! They are great trains. Personally, I think their best livery is the Scotrail Saltire but that's my opinion
Good suggestion mate. I feel even with the current route to Bromsgrove the 170 will add some more interesting variety to the route and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase.
