Hi. I'm currently experiencing a problem with air slowly bleeding into the brake cylinder, and keep having to hold in overcharge every couple of minutes. Has anyone else come across this issue? Thanks.
What kind of train are you pulling? When brake timing on goods, the brake cylinder of the loco is applying slow yes. Is your consist double headed / coupled up in a scenario? I need a little more infos, but i never had problems with the 20s. I know doing some things not the proper way, it could lead to problems.
Double headed, starting light then coupling to steel coils. Tried both pass and goods (air) and yes the bc slowly fills with air to the point it starts slowing the train. Service mode. Tried with and without aws, checked all controls on both locos. Thanks.
Tsw does simulate some aspects quite well. One of that is the braking system with a rather good amount of features & detail. Getting even better with the new uk wagons) So after coupling the bogie bolsters, check the vacuum exhausters are off in both locomotives and set/check the timing selectors both to "air goods". Best time to do that is at the coupling procedure. Seems in tsw changing the brake timings is only working well when all automatic brake valves are in neutral / shut down (train pipe to zero psi.) Be sure its on this position in all cabs. So now you are ready to: - on the leading cab set automatic brake to running and wait for 72.5 psi - master switch to e.o (compressor now starts) - aws on - overcharge the brake pipe to 76 psi (press lever 1 minute to release) - wait until brake pipe equals back to 72.5 psi When coupling consists or defective trains - locos etc, this has to be done. Just tight up the hook and go isnt working.
Ok, I've done plenty if runs in the class 20 without a problem. I will go thru your procedure. Thanks.
If its not working ill try it quickly by my self, just need to know the exact service. Even when towing multiple locos cold & dark etc, the brake system is modeled really well in tsw. When the main reservoir hose isnt connected, you could run out of air in the second locomotive. I have tested it extendend, my only critique is that i cant select which hose i want to connect. At some stock the main reservoir hoses are not plugging when operating in vacuum condition. But i guess its a sim limitation.
I tried again and I think it was because I used the loco brake when pulling upto the wagons and I didn't apply the train brake. This time I used the loco brake to stop at the wagons, coupled then set the train brake to 100% released the loco brake and held the train brake on overcharge until BP was at 73 and the BC was at 0. Thanks for your help.
