Why is this needed? - Including only one variant of the 350 (350/1) means that only 30 class 350s can be represented on the Euston to Milton Keynes line, meaning most services have to be 4 carriages, which isn't realistic as there are very little class 350 services that leave Euston as 4 carriages, if any. 99% of services are 8 coaches. Class 350/2 This variant of the class 350 differs from the 350/1 by means of a slightly different livery: They also have a different seating layout, with green 3+2 seats: The class 350/2 also lacks the capability to run on 750V DC third rail, like the 350/1. Class 350/3 and /4 The 350/3 and /4 were 20 units built for London Midland and Transpennine Express respectively. Both variants now run with LNWR. From what I have seen (correct me if I am wrong), they have the same interior and livery as the 350/1, but lack the third rail capability. All variants can be seen running in multiple with each other, and would enhance the player experience on the Euston to Milton Keynes route. I do not own any of the above images and as such I do not take credit for them. Thank you very much for reading my suggestion.
DTGs workload could be significantly reduced if they were to create subclass variants in parallel. These, like many types, are very similar to each other with only minor differences between each subclass. As well as reducing the workload, we would end up with more stock to fill out timetables in a realistic way. This seems far more cost effective to me than the present method.
If they're not willing to create different subclasses, they could at least fudge the numbers a little.
If the only difference between the 350/1 and the 350/3 and 350/4 is the 3rd rail shoes, what is the difference between the /3 and /4, and why wouldn't DTG make them, given that nothing has to be added, but instead removed. Secretly, I am hoping for a Meissen branch-style surprise in a couple of months time...
The /3 were built for London Midland and the /4 were built for Transpennine express, but I think they are fundamentaly the same. I too hope the St. Albans Abbey branch gets added.
I'm also pretty sure the /2s are known for having squeaky high-pitched horns, which would be a nice addition.
may look similar, but there are still enough changes to make it a brand new train. It's like comparing the caltrain mp36 to the metrolink mp36. Looks similar, but the top, interior and undercarriage has many differences that need to be remade
They'd use the same sounds, physics, and base model. There would be changes yes, but a brand new train? Definitely not.
If we get really pedantic then yeah they have more changes than just 3rd rail shoes, there are fewer underframe equipment boxes on the AC only units as those boxes dealt with the 750v DC, and of course the /2 in particular has a different interior. It still would be fairly minimal work compared to making a whole new model.
