The AP Class 40 pack contains cold start versions of the loco, but the AP 37 doesn’t seem to have this feature.

How can you cold start a 37? Is it a scenario only thing? Switching off the engine to restart doesn’t quite provide the same scenario as in the manual?

Rather than having separate versions of each loco any of the Class 37s can be running or Cold Start.
But you have to set it up in a scenario to do that
Nothing to stop you changing a Scenario so the engine is a Cold Start - but if the timings are critical you will be late away

The manual on the front page mentions Cold Start
And in the setting up the loco mentions what you add to the loco number for a Cold Start

Thanks. I’m a bit confused as to how to access the scenario editor: I was thinking I can edit one of the default AP37s and create a cold start version (like with the AP40) as mentioned in the manual, so it would be available as a ‘custom 37’ in my loco list:

    Cold start
To activate cold start mode on a player train, add ;Cold=1 to the locomotive number.

But I can’t see how to open the scenario editor. All I can see is for routes.

How can I open an editor for a 37 locomotive only? It’s probably in front of my nose, but just can’t see it!

You don't open the editor for the loco, you place your trains in the scenario editor where you schedule services and edit the running number there.

You can either go via the Build and then Scenarios menu in TS, or you can start the scenario, press Ctrl+E to enter the editor and then in the top left click on the orange square with a train shape in. This will move you to scenario editor. Make your changes, press F2 to save and then on you go.

Word of advice, some scripting and signalling doesn't like going straight from the editor to playing through, so when you press okay to leave the editor, quit back to the main menu and start from the Drive menu from scratch.

Thanks, Matthew. Is it the case then, that a cold start 37 can only be used in a particular scenario you edited it in, and not accessible in Quick Drive (sorry, I’m still new to it all)?

I loaded a route in QD, did Ctrl E, got into the scenario editor, clicked on the left hand fly out box with arrow as instructed in the AP manual, found AP and Class37Pack01 in the right hand fly out, but then got stuck, as it’s impossible to tick the second and third boxes as they are greyed out.

Here's me setting up a 37 for cold start, and then running the created scenario to cold start it.

It's still encoding as I type this, so if you can't see it clearly, just wait for HD procesing to finish... come back in a few mins.
