I think it was obvious from the beginning when we first heard about the Cathcart route that we would be getting more than one train on the route. The most likely train would be the Class 380 Simmens Desiro. But, we only received 1 train on the Only Scottish Route there is on tsw2. So here I am posting an article on why we should have got it in the first place and why we should get it soon. Class 380: This Class 380 Train is predominantly used on the Ayshire Coast Line and Cathcart Circle Lines so it seemed like this was one of the main trains we would be seeing. The Cathcart circle though has the Class 314 which was retired a few years ago. The Class 380 is an EMU and draws power from a pantograph. As of 2022, the Class 380 operates trains between Glasgow Central and Ayr, Largs, Ardrossan, Gourock, Wemyss Bay, Neilston, Newton, Edinburgh Waverly and Cathcart Circle. In addition, they also operated trains between Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street via Falkirk Grahamston, North Berwick and Dunbar for a time whilst awaiting the Class 385 introduction to service. They can also operate to Stirling, Dunblane and Alloa if required. The Class 380 train would be the Second Scottish train in the whole game and one of the only Desiro trains in the game. I feel the Class 380 is so Iconic because of it's so recognisable whining noise when ariving and departing stations. When inside the class 380 you will experience a comfortable journey to wherever your going with on-board passenger anouncments and Passenger Information Screens (P.I.S for short). The door sounds are similar to the ones of a Class 387 and most train sounds you could get from the KOLIN-ACHEN route. The Class 380 Comes in 3 Car and 4 Car sets often coupled together. These trains are equiped with comfortable seats and toilets should you need it, along with a luggage storage area and disabled / bike seating. If the class 380 were to be added it should be done as a train dlc or a seperate route such as the Ayshire Coast Line (see my other article on that) To Finish off this request i'm just going to say: PLEASE Dovetail Games Add this to the Game. Trouble is, the 380 is just another push button Electrostar style EMU with a very narrow front view. How about a 303 or 311, something a bit retro?
It needs to fit in the era too. (no GWE BR Blue pack vibes). The 380 went closely in service to f.e. an 2020? timetable where it ran more services would fit better then more retro things
If we got this as dlc it would mean we probably won't get the ayrshire coastline, so its better if we get it with an actual route
We might see more of those in the Spirit of steam pack. Follow me to look out for articals for other routes such as The West Highland Line or Glasgow to Edinburgh HST and 156 and 385
I'm afraid those trains would be too old for the route and if put in the game would probably only run special services on cathcart circle
This can work but you need to have them wait for 20 minutes then Go otherwise Service Failure your train has overheated if Class 380 ends up running like Class 314 PEP
I have said and will say again that the 380 is a terrible choice of DLC for the Cathcart Circle. With the route being set in 2014, the 380 was introduced on other routes, and the Cathcart Circle barely saw them, with some dragged in to make up the numbers in Peak-hours. However this was also filled in for by 320/318 units. I think the 380 would be far better coming with a Ayrshire or Inverclyde route, as I have suggested previously. I agree with the other replies, due to Cathcart's limited scope for a modern DLC, a pack with the 303, 311 (fairly similar), as well as reskinned 314s and 101s in the old Strathclyde Transport orange and black livery, in a GWB-type bundle. I notice that the thread you link on the rail forums is about the Class 385 - with limited mention of the 380's regen brake system. There's no evidence provided to support it, and 380s run the Cathcart Circle fairly often without problems.
I think the Class 380 would be good though because it makes the route seem more realistic and up to date so it is simelar to how it is today but still with the class 314's
Its better if the class 380 comes with a route because for a start it would only have 10-20 services on ccl for that time as well as this meaning we wouldn't get future routes with only the class 380, but also you would get a new route with it as well
That's awfull. It's not the worst train to add but ise of Wight Is not the best route to upgrade. It would be better off getting a train upgrade for. Longer routes such as LC or CC
IOW is already a mediocre enough route that I would take Rivet making a loco for it. London Commuter/Brighton Mainline is struggling enough with memory issues to have another unit, especially if it's the 700, with other 12 trains an hour on section of the line. BML isn't able to sustain another train as things stand. As for CC (I presume you mean Cathcart Circle), there isn't any real value in a 318/320/380 for Cathcart, considering the era, other than making Glasgow Central more alive AI-wise. I think that Rivet would rather make the DLC for Isle of Wight (484) or West Cornwall Local (153, perhaps) rather than go for a bigger shot.
