I remember reading somewhere that Rivet had plans to re-record the sounds on the Class 385. Will this ever happen or is it another false promise from Rivet Games?

They've been trying to get a 385 to record but no success from scotrail. They've got a busy schedule to run and sounds have to recorded in a particular way

I gave up hope along time ago when it comes to the 385s sounds. If Rivet can't be bothered updating EG, then I'd save your disappointment in terms of any updates coming out for the 385 sounds. They don't even need to get a sound trip if it's not available, they can at least try and do what DTG done with their Pendolino that was satisfactory.

Get static recordings and then artificially try and mimic the 385 to the best of their ability. That's what I think the best plan would have been...

Or they could spend some of the £100's if not £1000's they have received in royalties on sale of the stuff to buy their sound engineer a weekly season ticket so he can go back and forth from Edinburgh to Glasgow a couple of dozen times, listening to what the trains sound like and maybe grabbing a few reference recordings along the way. Then take that information into the studio (or at least the Amiga 1200 which they seem to use for doing sounds) and produce something with the high quality audio they do have access to, or can buy in.
