Here's a challenge, should anyone want to accept it. Can you make a 5-car Gatwick Express unit? (I would like one of these to act as a 'fake' CL378 to run on the North London line bit of GOBLIN). I've had a go, and got 5 coaches in what looked like the right order. The unit even worked but the corridor connections were wrong. One pair of coaches had no connection just fresh air whilst another had them pushed up above the roofline. So can it be done? (Good luck as they are lots of coaches with identical names and I'm sure some flipping will be involved too). Post a screenshot of the unit running if you are successful.
As for now there is no way to get rid of gangway glitches. Those are present on all electrostars i believe, I had exactly same experience when making 3 and 5 coach variants of 377 and 3 coach variant of 375. I think this is caused by how those gangways work in game: - both DMSOs have gangway, - PTSO has gangway only on one side as on the other it connects to one from DMSO, - MSO does not have at all since it recieves gangway from DMSO on one side and from PTSO on the other. The problem here is that gangways do not create between coaches, those are permanently attached to them in some places. From what i wrote here it would suggest that unit with double panto car (although weird) would work well, but here comes another bug. When 2 PTSOs are connected to MSO on both sides, then one of them seems to be connected to MSO in really weird way: So you either have to cope with bugged gangway visuals or with this, at least until there will be some kind of fix which seems unlikely.
I had a feeling that this was going to be the answer but I thought that there might be cleverer people out there who could either prove me wrong or who could get around the problem. If we are right then it's a shame that no-one had the foresight to predict that a 3 or 5-car version would be wanted. A missed opportunity methinks?
At least we know what the problem is, if gangways were not part of actual coaches but were just inserted between them, then it might work well, but I don't think anybody would spend their time on this.
