This might be another nice diesel addition to the growing UK range. We used to see these coming through Reading "when I were a lad" with their very distinctive look. Mainly used for passenger haulage I believe but I have seen pics of them hauling freight.
Looks like a cool addition! If you look up Class 24 on google images, you can also see some images where it is pulling freight, so you had that correct. Would be nice driving this on NTP or WSR EDIT: This is one of the images where you can see it hauling some freight cars:
