I love the Brighton Mainline, it's probably my favourite route so far. They've done a brilliant job with it, the detailing, functionality, etc. It's a great route but with limited variation of rolling stock. Having the Class 465s on the route is great at Victoria Station but they turn off the mainline very early and they're non-playable. The Class 313s are rarely seen or are in depot and the HST is a once in a blue moon. Not forgetting the Class 166 but that's all you can really do with those services. It just becomes a bit boring Because you're just left with Class 387, 377/5- which are in two other routes. Sure the Electrostars have different technical features and they're in different liveries/operating companies, but a essentially they are all the same train but just different variations. Especially with so many services, diluting the Electrostar overload with some Class 445s help. Although the fleet of 46 aren't currently in service, they were only retired in mid-may of 2022-which is still fairly recent. 46 is quite a substantial amount for the services they operated alongside the Class 377s. A bit about the train: Built by BREL at York works in the early and mid-1980s. 137 trainsets were built and southern received 46 at Selhurst Depot, the first out of our batches, known as Class 455/8s. Designed for inner and outer suburban services, so no first class seating or toilet facilities. Very similar to Class 317 and 318s with the same bodyshell, a steel construction based off BR Mark 3 coaches. A few stats: 4-car units 3+2 seating 236 seats Max speed- 75mph 750V DC third rail Air Braking System (This is the older cab, it has had a refurbishment but there aren't any good photos) Southern Class 455 units are used on inner and outer suburban services, from London Victoria and London Bridge. They appear on routes including: Caterham Line Tattenham Corner Line Sutton and Mole Valley Line to Horsham and Epsom Downs from London Victoria London Bridge to East and West Croydon via Sydenham London Victoria to East Croydon via Norbury I really miss these trains on the route. Apart from being a bit noisy they were reliable, comfortable and their motors sound great too.
yes I made a suggestion for these too seeing as though we don't seem to be getting anywhere with the 700 Train Sim World 3 - London Commuter Expansion Pack | Dovetail Games Forums
20 years and the 455 was built between 1982-1985, thats well beyond 20 years, even just looking at the front of the train , if u think about it and properly take a good look, you can tell its a train built in the 1980's
Not sure why that's a problem, to be honest, they were still in service at the time the route is set, only being withdrawn by Southern in the last year Besides, it would add something very different to the existing stock for the route and diversity of rolling stock can only be a good thing
Yes it's old but it was still in service in 2022. There are loads of old trains, Class 313s, HSTs, etc. What's wrong with a bit of old school?
i dont know bro, but old school and mordern dosent mix for me......... but it might do for some of u but it looks so old i dont really think it vwould fit...
I wouldn't travel on any rail network at all then if I were you since they all have a variety of rolling stock, old and new
This argument is incredibly confusing to me, the trains were literally there at the time the route is set, running alongside all the modern trains we see on the in-game route at the moment. How could that not fit?
im just saying... and besides, its a 3rd rail train as well, might as well get the 700 or summin.. its my opinion so dont try fight me on this one..
Of course it would fit, they were running alongside them until last year! Does the class 313 not fit in either? I think if the class 455 and the class 700 were introduced it would push the London to Brighton route into an unassailable position as the most immersive route in the sim.
Yeah but it's Dovetail. I think it's either one or the other because introducing the Class 700s includes introducing a new rail company
Well maybe over time. I would think the 700 is more likely as it has been widely requested and if I recall spaces where left for Thameslink services. It doesn't mean a class 455 won't come in the future. Likely not granted but never say never.
