I have been working on one of my favourite locomotives, is there an easy way to use the WSR Class 47 as a template in the editor? The sounds for this loco is really important, I don't suppose anyone is working on such
Class 47 is a cooked asset , you won't be able alter much , you need a uncooked asset , you could asked DTG ? Have you tried ?
I don't think the 47 being a cooked asset would change much considering someone is making a loco using the 4F simulation/setup and it seems to be working for them from what I've seen.
I think this refers to me and my GWR tank engine steam loco. You can use your own Skeletal Mesh by substituing it for the DTG mesh in the RVV. If you make a child of the "donor" RVV you can simply swap the skeletal mesh for yours and it will work in the Editor to an extent. There are two potential problem areas 1. I haven't yet been able to get the wheel animations to work when the loco moves (slides along the track) because my loco wheelbase is different from the 4F and if I use DTG animation the axles are displaced to the 4F positions. 2. I am still using the 4F Cab Skeletal Mesh and this can cause weird appearance if the cab is significantly different in size. I hope to start modelling the GWR cab in Blender soon. I don't know how close the Class 50 and 47 are in wheelbase and cab details so these might not be an issue for you. I did make my Exterior model with exactly the same skeleton (bone names and hierarchy) as the 4F one but don't know how vital this is. Good luck with your project !
Thank you all for the replies, I currently have TSW 4 so that is the target unless I take the plunge which is more likely to be TSW 6, it's quite the learning curve having developed for x-plane and MSFS for more than two decade this is very different, I do hope to be able to complete this project as it was my absolute favourite loco as a child on my hols in Devon, I wondered if one of the manufactures of sounds for model railways might come onboard as an advert for their products so fingers crossed those discussions go well. Thank you Daunfr59 for your input, I have seen your thread and have been very impressed with your progress I have to say. Hope to have it running of sorts in the sim soon. I did see the post in TSC discord and lovely to hear this would be a welcome addition to TSW for more than just myself. Best wishes to all David
