Does anyone know why the Class 66's revs drop at 34mph. At first I thought it must be a bug but there are that many versions of this loco that surly it would have been fixed in one of them. The only conclusion I am left with is that this is indeed prototypical, but why?

It is prototypical, it's caused by the field divert, akin to gear changing in a car but done electrically by switching resistances in or out of circuit.

It actually changes over at 33.9mph, which if you round down is 33, which is exactly half of 66 and is how the loco got its classification
