It has to be broken since… TSW OG I think. I’ve tried many ways especially waiting for the light to go out but nothing. The only way was to remove the reverser handle and put it back and I was able to charge the brakes. It doesn’t sound prototypical but on other rolling stock it’s working fine if you wait.
It's been broken in every 66 since the original release. We've had posts about this before between you and I. The only way to recover the Class 66 is to take the reverser out as MYG92 says, which is a big no no on the real railway, but it's the only way to get it working again in TSW.
Staring wistfully at the reverser handle as it looks at you with puppy dog eyes, asking you to take it out over... and over... and over again...
Depending on the reason for the dumping of the brake depends on the procedure. If it's TPWS or AWS, you'd first contact the signaller to advise of the activation and then there's a form to fill in and they then need to do some checks on their signalling equipment. Once that's completed, you'd speak to your control room as a driver, to advise of the reason for the activation of the AWS/TPWS. Then if it's ascertained you've done nothing to compromise the safety of the railway, you would then reset the TPWS 4 system by holding the relevant illuminated light with the brake release button for 60 seconds, if using a TPWS v1/2 system then you'd do as instructed which is normally reverser key out and back in. Build your brake, conduct a brake test and continue on your way when you've got permission from the signaller.
I don't think the class 66 is fitted with TPWS 4. The trains that are (such as class 484 and class 801) have this control panel, where the relevant button lights up, and you have to lift a flap to press the brake release button.
Most Class 66's are now fitted with TPWS4 when they undergo heavy maintenance, the 66 in TSW is in original 1996 specs, so doesn't have the abilities to do most real life recovery options. It's so inaccurate it's embarrassing.
My mistake - I meant in the game, I don’t tend to use the 66 anymore, it’s mostly part of the scenery now.
