Was there ever an Enhancement Pack for the Freight Liner class 70 similar to AP enhancement pack of the class 66.

It's a real pity, 390001, such a unique locomotive. If it had have a AP style enhancement it would have been a perfect unit to drive.

One problem is that there is both a standalone and a SWC version (maybe Welsh Marches, too?). An enhancement patch would have to choose one of those. It could possibly be done with both, but then people using one version in scenarios and not the other could complicate matters.

Never been a problem before when we have had mutliple releases of the same train with an enhancement pack so why would it be a problem now. The Class 66 pack being a perfect example.

It's a pity that some AP EPs don't overwrite the base model anymore like the Class 66 and class 175.

I think it was done to avoid complains from people having to reinstall after doing check local files or reinstalling TS (some people do that more often than others, it seems)

Sound packs do, but none of the modern EPs do as they are significantly different to the base model. You can always replace the player train with the AP version in a scenario should you want to do that.

I don't know whether it ever got fixed in house, but the biggest issue I had with the Class 70 was when running light the friction values were all wrong, like running through treacle. If you didn't keep power on it just stopped. Think this was discussed at the time on UKTS with someone from RSC or RSDL as it was then basically admitting there was a physics fudge that resulted in this behaviour and take it or leave it... (Where have we heard that before).

Appearance aside they are nice sounding locos. We were taking a stroll along the Wilts and Berks Canal this afternoon at Wootton Bassett, where it runs alongside the GWML. Just happened to get an engineers train go by on the up with a Colas 70 on the head. Nice bit of thrash as it went by and made a change from the ubiquitous 66's and occasional 59's on everything else (and the mundane Knotweeds on the GWR services).
