I think depends on what power supply you’re using. You need the coach with the pantograph on it if you want to use it in AC mode, and the shoes with 3rd rail. Also have you switched power modes correctly?
yeah ive tried all coach combos, wanting to make a 3 car one for AC to use on the northern network, sadly it dosnt appear to be working for me, ive done all the set up and stuff and still nothing
I believe some cars do not have a battery so the train won't be able to power up. There should be 9 units in the list, assuming they are in the same order for everyone it is: 1 - DMOCB (Cab) 2 - PTOSL (Pantograph) 3 - MOS 4 - TOSW 5 - TOSLW 6 - MOS 7 - PTOSL (Pantograph) 8 - DMOCB (Cab) 9 - 8 car formation Include either TOSW or TOSLW so the train can power up, and run on DC mode. If you want to run on AC mode you will also need to include a PTOSL
Ooh Ooh Ooh. I thought I'd give this challenge a go and, after about 8 failed attempts, ended up with this. A working 4 car CL700 climbing Lickey Bank. (I couldn't have done it without Michael's 'list'. Once I realised that there was an order then it all made sense).
Bugger. I knew someone was going to ask this and now, when I have tried to recreate it I can't do it !!! Fortunately I've saved my previous effort but I must admit the stats screen looks very odd (Vehicle length / Power?). I'll try and recreate it again now and make a note of the selection process.
Right then, this is what I did to get a 4-car CL700. 1) Add New / Name new Formation / Formation Builder 2) Add Official / Key 700 in to the search Box 3) 9 identical CL700/0 coaches appear in the search results box. (No idea which is which but that doesn't matter). 4) Always pick the first one......now and for every subsequent vehicle choice. (Think of this as you selecting your train type). 5) Clicking on the first 'train' then populates the box on the RHS with 9 more files (where the top one has a CL700 icon). 6) Think of these files as your carriages. 7) My 4-car consist is as follows: DMOCB (1) / PTOSL (2) / TOSLW (5) / DMOCB (1) (Number in brackets = position on Michael's list). Note that you will end up selecting your coaches by selecting files according to the order they appear in Michael's list. That is the key to this. 8) Select the first file in the "Select a Vehicle" box (ensuring that "Official" is highlighted). This will add the DMOCB. 9) Click on "Add Official" and you will be taken back to the screen in (2). As before select the first 'train'. 10) This time select the second file in the "Select a Vehicle" box. This will add the PTOSL. 11) Repeat stage (9). 12) This time select the fifth file in the "Select a Vehicle" box. This will add the TOSLW. 13) Repeat stage (9). 14) Repeat stage (8). This will add the second DMOCB. (You will see that an extra vehicle has been added to the formation but it won't be visible as it is actually inside the first cab). 15) Select the fourth and final vehicle you have just added and flip it (reverse it). Now it will become visible in Formation Designer at the rear of your train. 16) Save and exit. You now have a 4-car CL700 that you can drive on AC lines.
You'll be pleased to know 8-car formations work well......even if you flip one of the 4-car units and have it running in 'reverse'. See below (apologies for the poor screenshots).
Agree with this. I can't seem to find any combination that would give a working 3 car AC unit (due to the need to have both pantograph and battery power which seems to require 2 centre coaches). I did get a 6-car train (2 x 3-car units) working but this wasn't realistic as it had a PTSOL in one unit and a TOSLW in the other. (So only the one pantograph). It did work, as the full train could draw both sources of power, but with only the one pantograph it looked wrong. I even tried powering up the 6-car and then uncoupling the non-pantograph set but that didn't work either. So, at the moment, I don't think you can run 3-car units.
wonderful, thanks for the help!! ive managed to get class 700s at 4 car, allowing me to run them on more routes, now to hope that painting for custom formations is possible in the near future then i can run the "class 706" units along scotland and the rest of the uk lol again, thanks so much for the help!!
Yes it does work. (See below.......screenshot taken 2 minutes ago......4 car unit on GOBLIN). Have you put the unit in AC mode, turned on the power and put the pantograph up?
There is no power to the whole Train not even the head lights are on Edit : Ok now it’s working ? Huh well ok then I have manage to make it work strange
