Hi everyone. Just wanted to come on here to state my strong opinion on the class 710 automatically locking doors. Don't get me wrong this route does have its issues (signals not bold, DMI a bit unrealistic, Saloon floor a lighter shade I think, not fully functioning GSM-R after who knows how long, a whole stadium of people at Barking Riverside when there's normally 10ish). However, it has its positives like the amazing exterior of the train and the detail of the stations. But that's not why I came on here. Before the preview Livestream, I noticed that some of the doors on the class 710 were closed and some open. Unfortunately, I was gullible enough to think that the doors work like In Real Life: 1) Only the doors that the passengers are using opened as the need to board/leave. (Normally thats not all of them). 2) After 30-40 seconds the doors automatically close but do not interlock. This mainly applies at a terminus as they can wait there for up to 15 minutes. 3) When the driver closes the doors the doors already closed get interlocked first, followed by the opened doors that need to be closed and then intercloed (at the same time). I've always wanted this to come to TSW as after years they haven't been able to do this. But the real problem lies that the doors close AND INTERLOCK after that 30-40 seconds. This takes away from the realism because the driver/AI has to re-open the doors again if they still have to load and it's a step back from the realism (no point making them close if you have to re-open all of them right after). If you're at a terminus you have 2min to set up, that's re-opening the doors TWICE, which will just get annoying and super unrealistic as passengers won't be able to board. This is just DTG being lazy and letting us deal with it. Matt mentioned on the preview stream how they have close door and interlock as the same thing so when the doors close they will also lock. What I am proposing: 1) Separate the auto-close door and interlock system. Surely it should be somewhat easy, just for the new routes. If they don't start now they won't do it! 2) If No1 is too difficult they should close some doors (not both on the same carriage) so it looks more like real life not all doors open 3) Just keep it the same. As much as I dislike having all doors open at all all times, it's better than the door system coming to the 710. In conclusion, DTG are really really taking away realism from a (dare I say) amazing route. They should not make us "suffer" for their current door system and how they frankly can't be bothered to change it, after all everything needs changing eventually and they probably had. Even Roblox train games have this system. This would've been a STRAIGHT day 1 purchase (yes, even without the pre-order) but this has made me doubt it. Anyway, feel free to voice your opinion below, hopefully this gets fixed ASAP. P.S. Please fix the green signal aspect it looks a bit white (JT train sim met line vibes).
A few times during the stream, Matt seemed to forget about the system they implemented for this release in their defence though, they acknowledged the issue and hopefully it is improved upon.
I’m not 100% so is only a thought but maybe the Mitrac screens may offer some option to play around with doors in a similar vein to that of been able to reset and play around with the class 465 doors
Im paraphrasing here...but im sure he said it's something they'll be thinking about for future releases
Yes, I think he did, but that's not good enough they are basically saying they can't be bothered to do it for this route
No, they're saying they'll look into it. Goblin releases on Tuesday so it's too late to fix it for launch. That isn't an admission of "laziness" In a nutshell:
It's all connected to the fact that the passenger "AI" is absolutely horrible. They should be able to initiate door opening, but so far they can't even get on the train they came to take. If passengers are not rebuilt completely, these weird loops like auto-lock will not help.
This type of system should be active on all the UK mu rolling stock. Irl the doors just release, the passengers have to press the button to open it and like the thread poster stated they close but not interlock after 30-45 seconds. The latter is an exception on the 323, 465, 313, 314, 142
The problem is, DTG's behaviour has been such that "looking into it" pretty much means "not going to be fixed".
Separate door closing and interlocking is a thing on the London Commuter Electrostars. If you unlock the doors, the doors open. If you then fly out in external camera (or get up and run down the train) and close each door by hand, the doors are still unlocked. You then have to go back to the cab and press the blue button and the doors will lock instantly, because none of the doors are open.
This has been an issue from day one, since all German coaches (except the aged Silberlinge) work this way. That's why German locosa have separate open/close and lock controls (although usually the driver won't open doors; passengers hit the button as needed, then they timer-close). You don't want to be letting the heat out and the snow in!
IKR. Just like they were going to "complete Reigate on the BML" still hasn't been done. This is only 1 example.
It's somewhat ironic that the route which has DOO trains, the doors lock automatically after a certain time and yet routes and trains which are guard operated, they can't manage to make the doors close automatically!
Haha at least they are rolling it out on the Blackpool lines and MML but you still have to press a button.
