Has anyone come across a Class 84 reskin for TS?

A search elicited nothing. I’d look on UKTS, but ....

What would it be a reskin of? There are no models of AL1 to AL5 locos in TS that I'm aware of.

inversnecky, just answered this on the Steam forum. As Pookis says there are no 84s or 82 to 85s and there should be.
The nearest you'll get is the AP 86 enhancement pack and the reskins from VP which has the original blue and headcode box.

A situation that needs altering IMO. Should be at least an 85 in Train Sim.

Incidentally I was on board the Class 84 farewell tour that was hauled by 84010 between Northampton and Glasgow, November 1979.

    Thanks, all.

I have the 86 and AP enhancement pack, but as pookey says, feel like there should be a representative of the earlier ones.

Of course, my mistake, as pointed out, a reskin is ‘just’ a paint job - I thought for a moment it could encompass a slight redesign of the exterior as well: the 84’s ends continue on a slope, and don’t bend vertical like the 86, so a simple renumbering wouldn’t suffice.

These are interesting but a bit niche- not as niche as E1000 the original 25KV loco' though. She began life as a gas-turbine prototype ordered by the GWR and was then converted to an electric prototype (in Stockton for excellent reasons no doubt) for BR to run tests on the WCML electrification. She lasted long enough to be allocated as TOPS Class 80 but it seems unlikely that she ever ran as such.

We’ll have to put dunkrez to work on it, after he’s finished the Class 26 of course :)

I wouldn't call a class 85 niche. 84 maybe, only being 10 of them, but they were still a regular sight on the WCML until withdrawn in 1980 or so. As for the other classes, well... all in all, across class 81, 81, 83, 84 and 85, there were 100 locos in service for 3 decades or more.

Oh yes- they're certainly not GT3 niche.

There was a Class 82 from IHH that used the cab from the RSC Class 86

That looks good, thanks Peter. Is it still available somewhere?

None of the IHH stock is available to buy.
The owner sold his catalogue to DTG

Perhaps we should lobby DTG to revamp some of the IHH library. The 82 in Peter's pic looks like it could do with a makeover.

I and others have pleaded for DTG to dust the IHH library off. IIRC their only reply was that it was not worth their while to upgrade them. Judging by the requests here for older UK rolling stock I think DTG are missing a trick.
Or could it be copyright issues?

I don't think it is a Copyright Issue as DTG purchased the IHH files and they have released a number of add-ons like the Western Hydraulics pack and the Class 73. I think DTG would only release a loco if it could come with Scenarios and as there are no suitable routes where the class 82 would have been seen that is a problem as they were all gone by November 1984.

And DTG would have to create a cab from scratch for the Class 82 as IHH did not bother.

Points taken Peter but do included scenarios actually sell a loco or a train? I'm sure many wouldn't mind driving an 82 over Shap, me included.

WCML Over Shap would have been their natural stomping ground, and it is set in the early to mid 80s, so it wouldn't be a stretch to have a scenario set in '81 or '82 before most of the class 82s were put into storage.

An interesting point but with the Humble Bundle people were complaining the Loco Add-ons were no good as you would have to sped money on a route to play the included scenarios.

Some people only play DTG Scenarios that come with the train.

I did a little summary of numbers and years when fully withdrawn:

    80 - 1 prototype, built 1951, rebuilt 1958, w/d 1968

    81 - 25, 1959-64, 1991

    82 - 10, 1960-62, 1987

    83 - 15, 1960-62, 1989

    84 - 10, 1960-61, 1980

    85 - 40, 1961-64, 1992

    86 - 100, built 1965-66, still in service

    87 - 36, 1973-75, 2007

To someone from the far north, there appears to be no end of DMUs and EMUs, so having at least one 81 to 85 should be.

(Maybe one day I can learn how to do this and have a bash myself!)

Within a month or so the only Class 86s still running will be 86101 with Locomotive Services and 86259 owned by Les Ross and 86401 with?
Most if not all Freightliner locos have finished

And the 17 locos operating in Hungary and Bulgaria :)
