Im missing something when I go through neutral zones if I turn the power to off or leave it on notch down. I still have to press the pantograph/reset button. Any help would be good thanks.

You must wait for the notches to go down after passing the neutral section

So you don't just drop the throttle back to off as you enter the neutral section. That still has the taps wound up, just isolated from the motors. You actually need to have run them down before that so that they have returned to zero when you hit the neutral section, hence there being two signs - the black one warning that a netural section is up ahead, and the white one indicating where it actually is. You also can't be braking as you enter the section, at least not the main train brake, as again that does tap up a little to engage the electric brake.

That being said, sometimes you can do all of that and the system still doesn't reset automatically, so you still end up pressing the button. It's just the nature of an old analogue system at the end of the day.

If you’re driving from the number one end of the loco the automatic trip will fail more than half the time and you have to press the reset button. I have a feeling this may have been added deliberately so that you have to do that sometimes. It’s very satisfying.
