Hi everyone, The British Rail Class 88 is a dual-mode locomotive used for freight services by Direct Rail Services. It would be great to add in the game on perhaps the Scottish or Midland route. It would be a nice thing to have a more modern UK freight train, especially one that can reach 100mph, maybe allowing for some nice quick scenarios. DRS has procured the Class 88 to serve as a mixed-traffic locomotive, capable of operating both passenger and freight services. Primarily, the type has been used by DRS to haul freight using electric locomotives without the need to hire in electric traction from other operators. As with the Class 68, they are also capable of operating passenger trains. This can introduce some charter services down a mainline. They look good and would certainly appeal to lots if added. Furthermore, there could be an option for the player to "name" their own locomotive, adding to a more personalised feel, and maybe this train could PROPERLY start in a depot, behind closed doors, and you have to open the doors, move the loco, and do a light loco run to a yard where you pick up the freight and then drive it somewhere else. And if that wasn't enough, you could also make the player drive back to the original depot after! Finally, maybe there could be an engineering scenario, where you drive to some engineering works on the train with some wagons for various engineering-relates things, or maybe a scenario about nuclear freight, which is what these locos are used for in real life too. I would love to see this in-game. Remember, if you want it to be added too, like this thread!
Might as well make the class 88 93 & 99 as Eurodual UK Pack. Remember on East Coast way Newhaven Aggregates these must be running on Diesel power due to the route being 750v DC and aggregate terminal diesel power. Same with SEH however on Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh Waverly via Falkirk High Woodhead line Manchester Piccadilly to Glossop and Hadfield and BCC run on 25kv 50hz wires parts must be on diesel.
It would be cool to see this added on a wcml north route as an add on. I dont think it would be able to reach 100mph with freight though, probably only 75.
